Zach Lutz Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Zach Lutz MLB and fantasy baseball news
Wed, 22 May 2013 10:44:51 -0700 Cincinnati Reds OF Chris Heisey (hamstring) continues to work with physical therapists in Cincinnati following the aggravation of his strained right hamstring on May 13. He's able to jog at about 80 percent effort, according to team trainer Paul Lessard. Fantasy Tip: It still sounds as if Heisey is several days or more from resuming a rehab assignment, so his absence will surely extend into June. Xavier Paul and Zach Lutz will remain NL-only options in the meantime.
Sat, 18 May 2013 11:24:34 -0700 According to a team source, the New York Mets could demote struggling 1B Ike Davis to the minor leagues as soon as next week. Members of the organization's front office are reportedly more in favor of the move than manager Terry Collins. Davis snapped an 0-for-24 streak against the Chicago Cubs Friday, May 17. Fantasy Tip: OF Andrew Brown, who was recently demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, played first base for the first time this season Friday, and would appear to be the most likely candidate to be called up if Davis is sent down. INFs Zach Lutz and Josh Satin are also candidates, although Satin is not on the 40-man roster.
Sun, 31 Mar 2013 11:56:50 -0700 The New York Mets have optioned 3B Zach Lutz to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Sat, 30 Mar 2013 12:53:36 -0700 The New York Mets will wait until Sunday, March 30, to decide whether to place 2B Justin Turner (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list. 3B Zach Lutz will make the 25-man roster if Turner has to go on the disabled list.
Fri, 15 Mar 2013 11:47:35 -0700 New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) has described his injury as soreness in the left side of his ribs, and he said it had been keeping him awake at night. It's something that he had been feeling for around a week. Wright won't play in the World Baseball Classic Friday, March 15, and it doesn't sound optimistic that he'll be allowed to play if Team USA advances to the semifinals. 2B Justin Turner is the obvious replacement for Wright at third base for the Mets if he's forced to miss the start of the season. INFs Zach Lutz, Brandon Hicks and Brian Bixler also have experience at third base. Fantasy Tip: Until Wright is tested by the medical staff, we won't know much. If he's forced to sit out a week or so, he could still probably be ready for the start of the season. Turner is more of an NL-only target if Wright is forced to start on the DL.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 15:07:12 -0800 The New York Mets are expected to shop 2B Justin Turner, according to a source close to the team's plans. Turner could also open the season with Triple-A Las Vegas if he isn't dealt since he has an option remaining. The Mets may want to get INFs Brandon Hicks and Omar Quintanilla on the roster as infielders. INF Zach Lutz could also sneak onto the roster if Turner is dealt. RP Jeremy Hefner appears to be too valuable to risk on waivers, so he looks to be a lock for the 40-man roster.
Thu, 07 Feb 2013 17:10:19 -0800 New York Mets OF Zach Lutz is making the transition from third base to the outfield this spring, and he started work on the move with outfield coach Tom Goodwin at the team's spring training complex. Lutz went 1-for-11 in his major league debut last year in seven games but hit .299 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs in 294 plate appearances at Triple-A Buffalo. 2B Justin Turner will also get a look in the outfield. They will be competing with OFs Marlon Byrd and Andrew Brown.
Thu, 13 Sep 2012 11:08:32 -0700 New York Mets 3B Zach Lutz (hand) will have surgery to fix a broken hamate bone in the base of his left hand Monday, Sept. 17, which will end his season. Lutz is 1-for-11 in his major league career.
Mon, 10 Sep 2012 22:01:04 -0700 New York Mets 3B Zach Lutz (hand) hurt his hand swinging in the game Monday, Sept. 10, and he will be re-evaluated Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Sun, 02 Sep 2012 12:00:11 -0700 The New York Mets have called up INF Zach Lutz from Triple-A Buffalo.
