The Detroit Tigers optioned INF Hernan Perez to Double-A Erie and P Jose A. Ortega, C Bryan Holaday and SP Duane Below to Triple-A Toledo. 3B Nick Castellanos, OF Tyler Collins, INF Argenis Diaz and P Trevor Bell were reassigned to minor league camp.

Detroit Tigers SP Rick Porcello will start the Grapefruit League spring game Friday, Feb. 22, against the Atlanta Braves. Porcello is battling for the fifth spot in the team's rotation. He will be followed by Ps Luis Marte, Luke Putkonen, Jose A. Ortega and Darin Downs. Ps Jose Alvarez and Kenny Faulk, two non-roster invitees, might also get into the mix.

The Detroit Tigers have optioned P Jose A. Ortega to Triple-A Toledo. The team plans to recall 2B Danny Worth from Triple-A after the All-Star break to fill the roster spot.

The Detroit Tigers optioned RP Luis Marte and INF Danny Worth to Triple-A Toledo Monday, July 2, and they recalled P Jose A. Ortega from the Mud Hens. The Tigers also purchased the contract of P Darin Downs from Toledo.

Detroit Tigers RP Chris Oxspring's status in the organization is up in the air pending a potential opportunity to pitch overseas. Oxspring is expected to be moved somehow to make room for right-handed relief prospect Jose A. Ortega, who may be activated from the disabled list and rejoin the Triple-A Toledo bullpen as soon as Tuesday, May 17.
