Brewers | Wily Peralta activated from DL

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:13:21 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and will start Tuesday, July 28, against the San Francisco Giants. In a corresponding move, RP David Goforth has been optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) 4.00 ERA and 1.43 WHIP make him viable in only the deepest of leagues and he doesn't have meaningful splits to exploit that could make him a good matchup play. You can do worse than Peralta but you should be able to do better as well.

Brewers | Kyle Lohse headed to bullpen?

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 17:14:50 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Kyle Lohse, who is 5-11 with a 6.29 ERA this year, could be making his final start against the San Francisco Giants Monday, July 27, with SP Wily Peralta (oblique) scheduled to come off the disabled list and start Game 2 of a doubleheader Tuesday, July 28. Lohse is 3-2 with a 4.78 ERA in five career starts in San Francisco.

Fantasy Tip: Lohse ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) surely shouldn't be owned in shallow mixed leagues, and he's one to avoid on FantasyScore tonight, even though he's throwing in a pitching-friendly environment and the Giants have struggled more on offense at home this year.

Brewers | Wily Peralta to re-join team

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 18:18:50 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) is scheduled to re-join the big club on the upcoming road trip to Arizona. Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday, July 22, that it was unclear if Peralta would need another minor-league rehab start before returning.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,100; or 8.2% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially make it through two full starts with the big club without any setbacks.

Brewers | Wily Peralta ready

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 09:44:39 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) is ready to return from the disabled list, but it hasn't been decided if his next start will be with the Brewers or in the minors. The team may look to deal a starter before the July 31 trade deadline to open a spot.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has missed two months after a rocky start to the season. Give him a couple of starts upon returning before using him on FantasyScore.

Brewers | Wily Peralta works in rehab start

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 21:18:17 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) allowed just one run over five innings in a minor-league rehab start for Class AA Biloxi Tuesday, July 21. He also allowed three hits with a walk while whiffing five batters. Manager Craig Counsell said no decision had been made whether Peralta would re-join the team following the start.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,100; or 8.2% of cap) might be back before the end of the month or shortly thereafter, but wait for him to officially make it through a full start or two before trusting him in FantasyScore again.

Brewers | Wily Peralta starting rehab assignment

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 15:38:46 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) is starting a rehab assignment with Class A Wisconsin Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when exactly Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will return to the team in the second half, but there's a good chance he'll immediately re-enter the starting rotation. He had a 4.00 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 54 innings over nine starts before going on the DL this year. Only consider adding him in NL-only leagues if he's available when he comes back.

Brewers | Wily Peralta throwing

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:46:38 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) threw his first bullpen session Monday, June 29, since landing on the disabled list, and he said it went well. He's hoping to go on a rehab assignment within two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) won't be back in the Brewers' rotation anytime soon. He should be left to the waiver wire in shallow mixed leagues, and there's no guarantee he's given a rotation spot back when he's ready.

Brewers | Wily Peralta update

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 07:29:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) threw off flat ground from 105 feet Thursday, June 18, and appears to be behind the original timeline of four to six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta will be a matchup play on FantasyScore upon return. That return is probably still a few weeks away.

Brewers | Wily Peralta out 4-6 weeks

Mon, 25 May 2015 15:29:43 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) is expected to miss four-to-six weeks with a strained left oblique. Peralta is 1-5 with a 4.00 ERA as of Monday, May 25. No decision has been made on a replacement starter.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) was a fringe starter at best, and he was completely matchup dependent on FantasyScore. Peralta can be dropped in all but the deepest of mixed leagues.

Brewers | Wily Peralta may not be ready

Sun, 24 May 2015 15:56:11 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (side) is not a lock to make his Wednesday, May 28, start due to tightness in his side.

Fantasy Tip: Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) was "not a sure thing yet." This could go down to the last couple days, so keep an eye on notes from Monday and Tuesday before you make your decision.
