New York Mets manager Terry Collins doesn't expect 1B Ike Davis (oblique) to return to the team this season after receiving a cortisone injection in his right oblique Tuesday, Sept. 3. He said his farewells to his teammates during their team fantasy football draft Monday, Sept. 2. Davis is headed to Arizona to begin his offseason after an exam in New York. He hit only .205 this year with nine home runs and 33 RBIs and spent almost a month with Triple-A Las Vegas.
Fantasy Tip: Josh Satin or Lucas Duda will fill in at first base for the rest of the season. It's safe to drop Davis in all formats now.

The New York Mets have an uncertain future at first base entering the 2014 season. Although the team has Ike Davis, Lucas Duda, Josh Satin and Wilmer Flores available to play, speculation is the Mets may go outside the organization and find someone else to play first.

New York Mets 3B Wilmer Flores (ankle) remains out of the lineup Friday, Aug. 16.
Fantasy Tip: Flores doesn't appear close to a return, and a trip to the disabled list is a realistic possibility. Josh Satin should continue to get the majority of starts at third in his absence.

New York Mets 2B Wilmer Flores' (ankle) sprained right ankle was worse Tuesday, Aug. 13, and he may need to go on the disabled list. He twisted his ankle running the bases Monday, Aug. 12, and was limping badly. The team will make a decision in a couple of days.
Fantasy Tip: If Flores goes on the DL, some combination of Josh Satin and Justin Turner will likely fill in at the hot corner. If you're speculating in NL leagues, Satin should be your first target.

The New York Mets have placed 3B David Wright (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain. In a corresponding move, the team recalled OF Mike Baxter from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Fantasy Tip: Manager Terry Collins mentioned Josh Satin, Justin Turner and Daniel Murphy as options to play third base while Wright is out of the lineup. Satin and Turner could be options in NL-only leagues if they get a majority of the playing time at third base. Murphy already receives regular playing time and probably is not available in most NL-only and mixed leagues.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins has vowed to get 3B Josh Satin playing time even after 1B Ike Davis was called up Friday, July 5. Davis is hitting cleanup in his first game since being promoted from the minors Friday. Satin has a 10-game hitting streak and has hit .353 with Davis out. Satin could start against a left-hander Tuesday, July 9, and he may occasionally start at third base to spell 3B David Wright. Satin could also see time in the outfield or at second base, which is his natural position.
Fantasy Tip: Despite Collins' pledge to continue getting Satin playing time, he's likely to only be an asset in NL-only leagues if his playing time is unpredictable. Snatch Davis up in most mixed leagues in hopes that he can recapture his second-half magic of a season ago with new swing mechanics.

New York Mets 1B Ike Davis appears ready to rejoin the major league club in the near future with the team facing a string of right-handed pitchers in their next five games. However, 3B Josh Satin, who has been playing first base, is hitting .395 for the Mets. Davis is batting .269 in 19 games with Triple-A Las Vegas after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts Monday, July 1. "According to them he's made big progress. He's still got a little movement in his hands, but certainly not as drastic as it was. He's more upright. They said he's driving the ball the other way much better than when he got there. He's not just a pull guy. So he's made big progress," manager Terry Collins said.
Fantasy Tip: Davis is available in a wide range of leagues (justifiably), and nobody will likely run to the wire to snatch him up if he's recalled this week. If you have the space, why not pick him up and see if his mechanical adjustments can help him rebound in the second half - if you're in a deep enough league.

New York Mets 1B Josh Satin worked out at third base during batting practice Wednesday, June 19. Manager Terry Collins said he wants to give 3B David Wright a day off soon, and Satin could be the man to fill in when that time comes.

New York Mets 1B Josh Satin had his contract purchased from Triple-A Las Vegas. The Mets also recalled OF Collin Cowgill and RP Josh Edgin from Las Vegas.
Fantasy Tip: Satin, 28, had modest numbers in the minors until he ended up with the 51s, for whom he's batted .305 with nine home runs in 264 plate appearances. There isn't reason to think that he's suddenly figured something out so much as Las Vegas' hitting environment has aided his numbers. He'll serve as a reserve initially, although it's conceivable that he gains PT if Jordany Valdespin doesn't work out at second base and Daniel Murphy has to shift back there from first, where he's filling in for the demoted Ike Davis.
