Seattle finished the year dead last in batting average (.234), on-base percentage (.296), slugging percentage (.369) and OPS (.665).

"Just to talk about home runs is not really the answer to overall offensive production. There are teams that have proven that power is not the only factor in scoring runs. You need to get on base. You need to run the bases well, move runners up. We want our hitters to be good hitters first before worrying about (hitting) homers," Chambliss said. The team will be focusing on on-base percentage, two-strike approach and moving runners up.

Carl Willis will serve as the pitching coach, Chris Chambliss will serve as the hitting coach, Jeff Datz will be the third base coach, Jaime Navarro will serve as the bullpen coach, Robby Thompson will serve as the bench coach and Mike Brumley will be the first base coach.
