The New York Yankees have promoted 3B David Adams, C J.R. Murphy and Ps Dellin Betances, Cesar Cabral and Brett Marshall from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In corresponding moves, INF Jayson Nix (hand) was transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list and OF Melky Mesa was unconditionally released.

Yankees | Zoilo Almonte lands on DL

The New York Yankees placed OF Zoilo Almonte (ankle) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, July 19, due to a sprained ankle. X-rays were negative, but general manager Brian Cashman said Almonte will go for further tests with Yankees doctors. The two most likely candidates to replace Almonte on the roster are OFs Melky Mesa and Thomas Neal.

New York Yankees OFs Matt Diaz and Juan Rivera will see more playing time in the outfield with OF Curtis Granderson (forearm) out until May with a broken forearm. OFs Zoilo Almonte, Melky Mesa and Adonis Garcia could also figure into the mix. INF Eduardo Nunez will not be used in the outfield, according to general manager Brian Cashman. The injury to Granderson likely cements OF Brett Gardner as the starting center fielder.

Financial terms weren't given.
