The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are optimistic that OF Josh Hamilton (calf) will be ready for the start of the regular season after straining his left calf Tuesday, Feb. 25. The Angels hope he can resume throwing in the next few days and eventually take soft toss to keep him active. OF J.B. Shuck could take Hamilton's place in left field if he's not ready for opening day, but they are far from considering that.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said OF Josh Hamilton (calf) will miss at least a few weeks because of his strained calf.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor this situation because there is not a definite timetable for his return. There appears to be a chance that this could affect his status for opening day. Owners should knock him down a bit in their rankings because of the uncertainty surrounding the injury. J.B. Shuck could receive more playing time if Hamilton misses an extended period of time, but likely would not be more than a AL-only option for now.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Peter Bourjos (wrist) will play his fifth rehab game with Triple-A Salt Lake Monday, Aug. 12, and he could come off the disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 13, to face a left-handed pitcher. OF Mike Trout will move to left field on the days that Bourjos is in the lineup. OF J.B. Shuck could move to designated hitter.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled OF Collin Cowgill from the minors Tuesday, July 2, to replace OF Peter Bourjos (wrist), who was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Cowgill could see minimal playing time in the outfield while serving as depth. With Bourjos back on the DL, J.B. Shuck regains value in AL leagues.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Peter Bourjos (hamstring) tripled in his rehab start with Single-A Inland Empire Monday, June 3, and he's expected to come off the disabled list later this week. Bourjos will go back to starting in center field, pushing OF Mike Trout back to left field.
Fantasy Tip: J.B. Shuck will lose basically all of his minimal fantasy value when Bourjos returns. In deep mixed leagues, Bourjos can provide stolen-base seekers a nice weapon. Stash him now if that is your need.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said OF Peter Bourjos (hamstring) will return to center field when he comes back, pushing OF Mike Trout back to left field. Bourjos hopes to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Inland Empire Monday, June 3.
Fantasy Tip: With regular playing time, Bourjos can be a nice speed asset in mixed leagues, assuming he can pick up where he left off before landing on the disabled list. J.B. Shuck will return to a bench role and will be largely useless, except in AL-only leagues.
