Detroit Tigers assistant general manager Al Avila has been mentioned as a candidate for the Baltimore Orioles' vacant general managerial position, although he is considered a long shot to end up with the job. "I'm very happy here," Avila said of his relationship with the Tigers. "I have a great relationship with the ownership and I've worked for (general manager) Dave (Dombrowski) for 20 years."

Tampa Bay Rays vice president of baseball operations Gerry Hunsicker, Chicago White Sox assistant general manager Rick Hahn, former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Dan Evans, Boston Red Sox assistant general manager Ben Cherington and Detroit Tigers assistant general manager Al Avila are rumored to be candidates for the vacant general manager position with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
