Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (back) received an injection for a nerve issue in his lower back Wednesday, Oct 2, and he'll be re-evaluated when he returns to the U.S. in November. The team is expecting him to be ready for spring training next season. Darvish led the league in strikeouts (277) and went 13-9 with a 2.83 ERA on the year.
Fantasy Tip: Darvish will be drafted as a top-end starting pitcher in 2014, but this is a situation definitely worth keeping an eye on in the offseason. Stay tuned.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said SP Yu Darvish (undisclosed) pitched in pain in his last couple starts of the regular season. "I don't think I can get into that," Washington said. "I'll let y'all talk to people above me and medical staff and let them get into that. I can say this: He never said that it was an issue. Yes, he had something, but he never said it was an issue." Darvish didn't make it out of the sixth inning in his final three starts and threw his fastball only 34 percent of the time in his final start Sunday, Sept. 29. His fastball velocity was down to 91.7 mph in his last two starts, too.

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (leg) left his start Monday, Sept. 9, against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to cramping in his right leg. He is expected to make his next scheduled start Saturday, Sept. 14, against the Oakland Athletics.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds like he was lifted as a precautionary move. If you're in a league which allow daily transactions, there is no need to bench him unless he suffers some sort of setback between now and Saturday.
