Tue, 19 Feb 2013 11:56:01 -0800 The Milwaukee Brewers are not in the mix to trade for Seattle Mariners OF Mike Carp, who was designated for assignment last week, according to a major league source. The Brewers will first examine their internal options to play first base with 1B Mat Gamel (knee) out for the year and 1B Corey Hart (knee) to miss the start of the season. Milwaukee's internal options are INFs Taylor Green, Hunter Morris and Alex Gonzalez. If the team isn't satisfied with those options, they could look at a free agent on a minor league deal.

Morris will open the season at Triple-A Nashville after hitting .303 with 28 home runs, 40 doubles and 113 RBIs last year at Double-A Huntsville.
