Richard Childress Racing | Kevin Harvick getting new crew chief

Richard Childress Racing announced Tuesday, Aug. 21, that driver Kevin Harvick will reunite with crew chief Gil Martin starting with the Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday, Aug. 25. Martin is replacing crew chief Shane Wilson. Harvick has just one top-10 finish in the last eight races to fall to eighth in points.

Richard Childress Racing crew chief Shane Wilson will move from the car of driver Clint Bowyer to the No. 29 team of driver Kevin Harvick for the 2012 Sprint Cup Series. Crew chief Gil Martin, who worked as Harvick's crew chief this year, will become a director of competition.

Richard Childress Racing crew chief Shane Wilson, the crew chief for driver Clint Bowyer, will remain the crew chief while the team appeals their suspension, according to ESPN.com's David Newton. NASCAR is expected to hear the team's appeal next week. Wilson was suspended six weeks and fined $150,000.

Richard Childress Racing | Clint Bowyer and team penalized

Richard Childress Racing driver Clint Bowyer and the team have been docked 150 championship driver and owner points after the No. 33 car was found to be in violation of several rules following their Sprint Cup victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last weekend, according to NASCAR.com. In addition, crew chief Shane Wilson has been fined $150,000 and suspended from the next six Cup events. He has been placed on probation until Dec. 31. Car chief Chad Haney received the same punishment. The penalty drops Bowyer from second to 12th in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings, according to SceneDaily.com's Bob Pockrass. He will be 185 points behind the leader.
