Washington Nationals 1B Tyler Moore could benefit from regular playing time at Triple-A Syracuse, according to manager Davey Johnson. However, general manager Mike Rizzo feels Moore is the team's best bat off the bench and his potential is maximized by serving in that role. "We've got the 25 guys that we want on the roster right now," Rizzo said. "That's always subject to change. As of right now, we like what Tyler brings to our roster. It gives Davey flexibility in left field and at first base and a right-handed bat off the bench. This is a professional hitter and he's going to be a good major league player. We feel he's going to help the ball club."

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper is starting in center field Wednesday, May 9, with OF Tyler Moore making his second career start in left field and OF Xavier Nady in right. OF Rick Ankiel is taking the night off against a left-handed pitcher.

Washington Nationals 1B Tyler Moore won't fill in while 1B Adam LaRoche (oblique) sits out with right oblique soreness. Instead, 1B Chad Tracy will be the fill-in for most of the playing time at first base. Moore will likely head back to the minors when 3B Ryan Zimmerman (shoulder) returns from the disabled list.

Washington Nationals 1B Tyler Moore, along with OF Bryce Harper, could be the future of the team in the next few years. The two prospects could also eliminate the team's need to pursue a true center fielder in the next few months. "This guy's power is unbelievable," one scout said. "Those guys could be two of the main guys in that lineup for a long time."

The Washington Nationals have placed INF Mark DeRosa (undisclosed) on the 15-day disabled list with an undisclosed injury. In a corresponding move, 1B/OF Tyler Moore has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.

Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (shoulder) is confident he won't miss extended time with inflammation in his AC joint in his shoulder. He could still land on the disabled list if he needs another anti-inflammatory injection. Zimmerman would be eligible to return May 6 if he does land on the DL. INF Tyler Moore and OFs Brett Carroll and Bryce Harper are options to be called up if Zimmerman goes on the shelf.

Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said 1B Tyler Moore will play some game in the outfield for Triple-A Syracuse because the team want him to have more versatility.

Washington Nationals OFs Brett Carroll and Jason Michaels appear to be favorites for two remaining bench spots, but 1B Chad Tracy, 2B Mark Teahen and INF Andres Blanco are still in the running. 1B Tyler Moore is no longer in the mix.

The Washington Nationals signed Ps Ross Detwiler, Atahualpa Severino, Cole Kimball, Ryan Mattheus, Ryan Perry, Henry Rodriguez and Craig Stammen, Cs Wilson Ramos and Jhonatan Solano, INFs Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa, Steve Lombardozzi, Chris Marrero and Tyler Moore and OF Eury Perez to one-year deals for the 2012 season Friday, March 2. OF Roger Bernadina and RP Drew Storen had their contracts renewed. Financial terms were not disclosed.
