Wed, 15 May 2013 11:59:33 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring) was set to begin a two-day rehab assignment with Single-A Potomac Tuesday, May 14, before returning to the team Thursday, May 16. Fantasy Tip: Werth will be back this weekend against the San Diego Padres, meaning Tyler Moore will go back to a utility role and lose his value in deep mixed formats for the time being.
Tue, 14 May 2013 09:19:44 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring) will visit with a doctor in New York Tuesday, May 14, and he's likely to be activated from the disabled list this weekend when the team plays the San Diego Padres. Fantasy Tip: Werth's hamstring issues were believed to be caused by dehydration from an illness that he was dealing with. His DL stint was backdated, meaning he can return this weekend. Those riding increased playing time from Tyler Moore in deep mixed leagues will only have a few more days to take advantage of that.
Fri, 10 May 2013 14:48:42 -0700 Updating a previous report, the Washington Nationals expect to place OF Jayson Werth (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 10, with a "very slight strain" of his left hamstring. His DL stint can be backdated since he hasn't played since May 2, meaning he'd be eligible to return May 18, and the team expects him to return at that point. Werth's MRI exam showed "a Grade 1-ish type of strain." Fantasy Tip: If you already added Tyler Moore in deep mixed leagues due to Werth's absence, you can expect to ride his increased playing time for at least another week. After that, though, his value will likely be limited to NL-only leagues.
Fri, 10 May 2013 13:33:39 -0700 Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said OF Jayson Werth (hamstring) will probably have to go on the disabled list because he's still experiencing spasms in his hamstring. However, the move can be backdated to allow him to return sooner. OF Eury Perez or 2B Jeff Kobernus are options to be recalled if Werth is put on the DL. Fantasy Tip: An illness and dehydration led to Werth's initial problems with hamstring spasms, and they haven't gone away. The good news is that he probably won't need to miss the full two weeks for his DL stint. Tyler Moore was seeing the most playing time in the outfield as a result of Werth's absence, and Roger Bernadina saw an occasional start, too. Moore should be your first target in deep mixed leagues, but it'll likely be a short-lived hike in PT.
Wed, 08 May 2013 13:34:44 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring, ankle) will visit with a doctor Wednesday, May 8, but manager Davey Johnson still thinks Werth won't need to go on the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Don't take Johnson's word for it. Werth still has some tightness in his hamstring, but at least his ankle doesn't appear to be much of an issue anymore. You should have already made plans in your outfield in case Werth is disabled. Tyler Moore isn't a bad substitute for those speculating in deep mixed leagues.
Tue, 07 May 2013 12:43:46 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring, ankle) isn't in the lineup Tuesday, May 7. Fantasy Tip: Werth was thought to be available to start the week, but it appears he's still trying to recover from his hamstring injury. If this lingers into the end of the week, the Nats may have to put him on the disabled list. Tyler Moore will continue to benefit with Werth out.
Fri, 03 May 2013 13:52:17 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring, ankle) will likely miss the team's entire weekend series, and OF Tyler Moore will take his place in the outfield. However, the club doesn't think Werth will need to go on the disabled list.
Fri, 03 May 2013 12:17:26 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring, ankle) is out of the lineup Friday, May 3. OF Bryce Harper is playing left field and OF Tyler Moore is in right. Fantasy Tip: Moore is not a bad speculative target in deep leagues for more playing time if Werth winds up landing on the disabled list. Werth returned to the lineup last night but was removed early with his hamstring acting up.
Thu, 02 May 2013 09:46:27 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper's (side) X-rays came back negative Thursday, May 2. He's dealing with the remnants of a bruise under his left shoulder blade. "The check swing, having all the force going toward the ball then just stopping, immediately it just got me a little bit," said Harper, who went 0-for-2 but drew an important leadoff walk in the fourth inning. "It got me to the point where I couldn't breathe and I had to catch my breath. It didn't feel very good." Harper is hoping he can play Thursday, May 2. Fantasy Tip: With Jayson Werth (ankle, hamstring) also ailing, Tyler Moore and Roger Bernadina have been forced into action. It's a little unclear exactly how serious Harper's injury is, but it looks like the Nats dodged a bullet so far. Werth's injury may be more serious. If you're targeting an outfielder for depth, Moore is your best bet.
Wed, 24 Apr 2013 06:19:59 -0700 Washington Nationals 1B Adam LaRoche will sit out Wednesday, April 24, and OF Tyler Moore will start in his place. Fantasy Tip: LaRoche could use the day off, as he's hitting .172 on the season and struck out four times yesterday. He's a notoriously slow starter, so you'll have to mix and match with him til his bat wakes up.
