The New York Mets have recalled SP Jack Egbert from Triple-A Buffalo. In a corresponding move, the team optioned P Robert Carson to Double-A Binghamton.

The New York Mets will place SP Mike Pelfrey (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list with swelling in his right elbow. P Robert Carson will be recalled in a corresponding move. General manager Sandy Alderson said a ligament tear has not been ruled out for Pelfrey. Carson will be with the team for three games and then be replaced by a starter for the game against the Colorado Rockies Friday, April 27.

The New York Mets optioned P Jenrry Mejia, P Armando Rodriguez, P Jeurys Familia, P Robert Carson, SS Wilmer Flores, OF Juan Lagares, 2B Reese Havens, OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis and P Josh Stinson to the minors. They also reassigned P Matt Harvey and OF Matt den Dekker to minor league camp.

New York Mets P Robert Carson (intercostals) will be out for at least a week after receiving an injection for strained intercostal muscles on his left side. He is competing for one of the final spots in the bullpen this spring alongside RPs D.J. Carrasco, Miguel Batista, Pedro Beato, Garrett Olson, Chuck James and Daniel Herrera.
