The New York Yankees have hired Gary Tuck as bullpen coach, Trey Hillman as special assistant, major league and minor league operations, Mike Quade as roving outfield and baserunning instructor and Matthew Krause as strength and conditioning coordinator.

Chicago Cubs manager Mike Quade has a vote of confidence from owner Tom Ricketts, so his job appears to be safe beyond the 2011 season. "They've been so supportive, and it's been a wonderful change of ownership. And I understand it's a business, and I understand all that. But (Ricketts) has been great a little different than previous ownership," Quade said.

Though he sat against a left-handed pitcher Monday, Chicago Cubs OF Tyler Colvin should get the majority of the playing time in the outfield for the rest of the season. "You'll see Colvin the next three days," said manager Mike Quade. "We'll look to get everybody, [Alfonso] Soriano, [Marlon] Byrd, everybody will get an off day in the next few days." Colvin started in right field on Tuesday.

"I think we are committed to finding out about Colvin," Quade said. "He's going to get an opportunity, and it's going to be up to him to keep them. But I'm going to give him some shots. I'd love to see him get going against right-handed pitching, and I'll put him against guys where he has the best chance to succeed."

Chicago Cubs RP Kerry Wood needs time to focus on his mechanics, according to manager Mike Quade. "He's obviously capable of dominating and pitching a lot more efficiently than he has," Quade said of Wood, who has given up six runs on six hits and seven walks over 6 1/3 innings in eight games since returning from the disabled list. "There's a couple things about coming back from down time, and part of it is how soon will you be back to who you are. Sometimes it's right away and sometimes it takes a little bit."
