St. Louis Cardinals P Jordan Swagerty (elbow) is ready to go this spring after returning from Tommy John surgery. "Right now, the medical guys are telling us that he should be good to go," said farm director John Vuch. "Obviously when he shows up, we'll take a look at him first hand. The one good thing is we do have some luxury that if he isn't 100 percent, we don't have to rush him to be ready. But we don't expect any delay." The team wants him to return to a starting role unless they feel fewer innings will benefit the prospect.

St. Louis Cardinals minor league RP Jordan Swagerty (elbow) will undergo a pair of surgical procedures early next week and is expected to miss the entire 2012 season. He will have bone spurs removed from his right elbow and undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a compromised ligament.

The St. Louis Cardinals assigned RP Jordan Swagerty (triceps) to minor league camp Monday, March 5. He had thrown just two bullpen sessions this spring before being shut down with stiffness in his right triceps. He will visit with a doctor Tuesday, March 6, to determine his next step.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Jordan Swagerty will go back to being a starting pitcher this season. The Cards were wary of overworking Swagerty in the minors last season so they moved him to the bullpen. He could begin the year in Double-A Springfield's rotation.
