Washington Nationals SP Reynaldo Lopez will be called up from the minors to make his major league debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday, July 19. RP Sammy Solis (knee) will be put on the 15-day disabled list with right knee soreness to make room for Lopez. Lopez will be taking SP Joe Ross' (shoulder) turn in the rotation. The Nats think SP Lucas Giolito needs to work on his breaking pitches and command back in the minors. Lopez was 4-5 with a 3.19 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 109 strikeouts and 31 walks in 87 1/3 innings in two minor league stops this year. He has impressed with a fastball that can reach triple digits.
Fantasy Tip: Lopez is another impressing top pitching prospect for Washington, and aside from his triple-digits heater, he has out pitches in a curveball and improving changeup. His delivery can be inconsistent and lead to shaky command, but he has the tools to be successful in the bigs. Don't invest heavily in deep mixed and AL-only leagues because he might return to the minors in quick order, but he's certainly intriguing for those in keeper/dynasty formats.

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals RP Matt Belisle (calf) was placed on the 15-day disabled list after straining his right calf during a relief appearance versus the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, April 26. RP Sammy Solis was called up from Class AAA Syracuse to replace him on the 25-man roster.
Fantasy Tip: When healthy, Belisle is valuable in deep NL-only rotisserie leagues that use categories such as ERA, WHIP and holds. The 35-year-old right-hander has posted a 1.50 ERA through the first seven games of the year.

Washington Nationals SP Ross Detwiler (back) was throwing 94-96 mph during the instructional league during his rehab, and he feels great about his health heading into spring training next year. However, he'll have to compete for a rotation spot after the team added SP Doug Fister in a trade. SPs Taylor Jordan, Tanner Roark, Ross Ohlendorf, Nathan Karns and Sammy Solis are other options to compete with Detwiler. He could also serve as a lefty reliever out of the bullpen.
