Reds | Scott Schebler optioned

Sat, 07 May 2016 09:38:10 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Scott Schebler was optioned to the minors Saturday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Schebler was hitting a measly .188 (12-for-64) with 20 strikeouts and one home run. The move means Adam Duvall, who has been swinging a hot stick, will see most of the starts in left field. Pick Duvall up now and take advantage of his hot bat if he's available in any deep mixed or NL-only leagues.

Cincinnati Reds OF Scott Schebler is back in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP John Lackey Saturday, April 23, batting eighth and playing center field.

Fantasy Tip: Schebler is just 6-for-35 with four RBI through 15 games this season and is not a great option in any fantasy format.

Reds | Billy Hamilton takes a seat

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 09:27:46 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 21. OF Scott Schebler is starting in center field and is hitting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Jake Arrieta.

Fantasy Tip: Schebler has only six hits in 33 at-bats this year, and he should be avoided against last year's NL Cy Young winner.

Reds | Billy Hamilton out Sunday

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 10:01:39 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton remains out of the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Sunday, April 17. OF Scott Schebler will play center field and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton is on the bench for the second consecutive game due to lack of performance rather than an injury. He is batting just .185 through his first 32 plate appearances this season. Schebler is nothing more than an inexpensive flier in daily fantasy contests.

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton is not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright Saturday, April 16. OF Scott Schebler will start in center field and is batting eighth.

Reds | Adam Duvall in, Scott Schebler out

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 06:40:25 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Adam Duvall is starting in left field and batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Sunday, April 10. OF Scott Schebler is not in the starting lineup Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Duvall is of minimal fantasy interest and checks out as nothing more than a desperation flier in daily contests Sunday. Schebler, however, is off to a nice start with two runs, three doubles and three RBI through just 14 plate appearances. In NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, Schebler isn't a bad depth piece, especially if he can steal a few starts from Duvall against southpaws.

Reds | Three players sitting for Cincinnati

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 08:28:05 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart, C Devin Mesoraco and OF Adam Duvall are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole Saturday, April 9. OF Scott Schebler will start in left field and is batting sixth. 2B Ivan De Jesus will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while C Tucker Barnhart will be the catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Schebler could be an option for some daily fantasy league owners, while Barnhart could be used in NL-only leagues that start two catchers. De Jesus can be avoided by most owners.

Reds | Scott Schebler in the mix in LF

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 09:09:43 -0800

Cincinnati Reds OF Scott Schebler will be in the mix for playing time in left field in 2016, and he could be in a platoon role. He had three home runs in 40 plate appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year after hitting .241/.322/.410 with 13 home runs in 121 games at Class AAA. Competition in left field is unlikely to include OF Jesse Winker, one of Cincy's biggest prospects.

Fantasy Tip: Schebler could be interesting to those in NL-only and really deep mixed leagues because of his intriguing power profile, but only if he wins at least a share of the left field job.

Reds | Jose Peraza, others headed to Reds

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 09:35:46 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Jose Peraza, 2B Brandon Dixon and OF Scott Schebler were acquired by the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the deal sending 3B Todd Frazier to the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Peraza is the headliner here. He had a .293-4-42 line with 45 steals at Class AAA last season. He could ultimately allow the team to trade Brandon Phillips and give him the starting second base job. He would be worth a flyer in mixed leagues in that scenario. Schebler fell off a bit with a .241-13-50 season at Class AAA last year after hitting 55 homers between High-A and Class AA. Dixon had a .263-19-68 line between High-A and Class AA in 2015. Schebler and Dixon are probably a bit away from the majors.
