Dodgers | Joc Pederson flashing power

Sun, 03 May 2015 05:08:08 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson hit his fourth home run over the past five games against the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: It was also the second consecutive game Pederson ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) led off for the Dodgers, after he spent all season batting sixth or lower. He carried plenty of hype entering the season and his solid run in spring training helped. Pederson is currently sporting a .447 on-base percentage, which is excellent for points leagues and daily contests. Add his recent power surge, and Pederson should be on your FantasyScore radar.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson has best walk rate

Fri, 01 May 2015 11:29:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson currently leads the majors with a 22.1% walk rate at age 23. He also has the third best on-base percentage in the league at .461. However, he also ranks 19th in strikeout rate, but he was moved to the leadoff spot Wednesday, April 29. Pederson currently has a slash line of .298/.461/.596 on the year.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is off to a great start and could see his fantasy value skyrocket even more with the move to leadoff of a potent lineup. At FantasyScore, he's much more attractive batting leadoff, especially since it should give him more opportunities to run.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson leading off vs. Giants

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 15:03:50 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is leading off and playing center field against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, April 29. He will be followed by SS Jimmy Rollins, 2B Howie Kendrick and 1B Adrian Gonzalez, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has an impressive .458 on-base percentage, so setting the table for a potentially strong lineup makes sense, and it is a huge boost for his fantasy stock. Pederson is an excellent FantasyScore option going forward, and his seasonal value is on the rise.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson not starting Tuesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 16:45:07 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is receiving the day off Tuesday, April 28. OF Enrique Hernandez, who was called up Tuesday, is starting in center field and hitting second in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez was just called up today and won't be available at FantasyScore tonight. He's likely to be a bench option for the Blue and won't be worth your time in daily games.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson being rested

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:40:05 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 22. OF Chris Heisey, who was just called up from the minors, is starting in center field and hitting sixth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.

Fantasy Tip: Heisey will be a very cheap FantasyScore outfield option tonight against Bumgarner, but he should be avoided everywhere, especially since he hit only .205 (17-for-83) with three of his eight home runs against southpaws in 2014 with the Cincinnati Reds.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson to play plenty CF

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 10:14:50 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson will see a lot of time in center field this year, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is a popular pick to be the National League's Rookie of the Year in 2015. He has all the tools to be a top-tier fantasy outfielder eventually, and he should put up great numbers in a full season. On opening day, it's hard to argue not taking Pederson against James Shields and the San Diego Padres.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson proving he's for real

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 11:17:32 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is hitting .415 this spring and has proven to be a dynamic presence in center field in the absence of OF Matt Kemp, who was traded away in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson appears to be the real deal, and he'll finally get everyday playing time in Los Angeles in center field in 2015. Strikeouts have been the one real knock on him, which could see his average suffer, but he remains one of the best prospects in the majors that can make an immediate impact on your fantasy roster this year.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson focused on the process

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:35:22 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is stressing the process and not necessarily the results, and he is not concerning himself with a potential position battle. "That's out of my control," Pederson said. "I like to focus on the process and the stuff I can control. Whatever happens is going to happen, but all I can do is prepare myself best to be able to perform and help the team win."

Fantasy Tip: Only in the unlikely event Pederson plays his way out of the starting center field job is he not worth attention in the middle rounds of mixed drafts. He is expected to receive ample playing time to show off his power-speed profile, and he has huge fantasy upside.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson to work on making contact

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 11:15:13 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson's numbers at Triple-A Albuquerque last year were very impressive - a .435 on-base percentage, .582 slugging percentage, 33 home runs, 30 stolen bases and 100 walks - but he also struck out 149 times, leading many skeptics to think he may be particularly vulnerable to hard-throwing pitchers in the big leagues because of his long, aggressive swing. The Dodgers have been focused on helping Pederson generate more contact heading back to last season. Pederson will get first crack at the center field job over OFs Andre Ethier, Andy Van Slyke and Chris Heisey. Los Angeles is confident that Pederson can make adjustments, though, as he improved to .299 against lefties last year after hitting just .200 against southpaws in 2013. Pederson said he refined his approach in winter ball this year after the Dodgers expressed concern about his high strikeout totals. Manager Don Mattingly said Pederson's swing reminds him of Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez and Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson is a fantasy baseball sleeper prospect with heaps of upside potential as a power-speed guy. He has power to all fields and should see plenty of playing time right off the bat. If you're going to reach a little in the middle rounds, you do so for talents like Pederson with immediate playing time upside.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier demands to start

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 11:17:42 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier said he prefers to be traded if he doesn't have a starting outfield job this year. The team's current plans have OF Carl Crawford in left, rookie OF Joc Pederson in center and OF Yasiel Puig in right field, with Ethier as the fourth outfielder. Ethier hit .249 with four home runs and a .691 OPS in 331 at-bats last year, and his production has declined since 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson isn't guaranteed the starting center field job, he'll have to earn it in camp by beating out Ethier. Regardless, Pederson is an up-and-coming prospect that will be taken in the middle rounds of mixed-league drafts, while Ethier is an afterthought. If Ethier is dealt before the start of the season, he could find some value as outfield depth if he lands in the right situation.
