Athletics | Jesse Hahn solid in first start

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 16:34:10 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn allowed three hits and two walks while fanning four in 6 2/3 shutout innings to beat the Houston Astros Saturday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn had bright moments in San Diego and could be a solid waiver pickup if you're lacking at the back end of your rotation.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn pegged for Saturday

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 10:16:27 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (finger) is slated to start Saturday, April 30, against the Houston Astros. Hahn has been bothered by a blister.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn had a decent start at Class AAA Nashville, despite an 0-1 record. He had a 2.04 ERA and 13 K's in 17 2/3 innings. The Astros are struggling, but Hahn's upside is limited since it's his first start in the majors and he's been dealing with a blister.

Athletics | Sean Manaea coming up for A's

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 09:54:21 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea is expected to be recalled from Class AAA Nashville in order to start Friday, April 29, according to multiple sources. He has allowed 16 hits and three runs while walking four and striking out 21 at Nashville. SP Jesse Hahn (finger) was in consideration, but he's dealing with a blister.

Fantasy Tip: Manaea is one of Oakland's top pitching prospects and has dominated in the minors when healthy. He can have trouble commanding his secondary pitches, but he has a high fantasy ceiling. Grab him immediately in deep mixed, AL-only and dynasty formats if he's available. His MLB debut will come against the Houston Astros, who have struggled with strikeouts and are in an offensive funk. Give consideration to starting Manaea immediately in that matchup. With Oakland's fifth starter spot in flux, Manaea could take this opportunity and run with it.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn could join rotation

Sat, 02 Apr 2016 20:31:56 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn will likely take SP Felix Doubront's (forearm) spot in the rotation and start Friday, April 8, against the Seattle Mariners.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn was demoted after a terrible spring, but he is coming off a solid 2015 campaign and could be worth a look in daily games if he starts Friday. In AL-only leagues, he is worth a speculative stash.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn optioned to Nashville

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 17:41:29 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn was optioned to Class AAA Nashville on Tuesday, March 29. He finished with an 11.15 ERA during spring training.

Fantasy Tip: This has to be one of the more surprising moves, as the expectation was that Hahn would actually serve as Oakland's No. 2 starter going into the new campaign. Alas, he won't even be part of the major league rotation at all to begin the season. Despite his spring struggles, Hahn has very notable potential, as evident during his rookie year in San Diego in 2014 when he was 7-4 with an impressive 3.07 ERA and .214 BAA in 12 starts and two relief appearances. The 26-year-old was also solid last season, posting a 3.35 ERA in 16 starts before going down with injury. Certainly, we have not heard the last of Jesse Hahn in '16, and he could make a considerable impact when he is inevitably recalled.

Athletics | Felix Doubront breaks camp as starter

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 12:15:10 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Felix Doubront will be the fifth starter in the rotation, the team announced Tuesday, March 29. SP Jesse Hahn was optioned to Class AAA Nashville Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: This was unsuspected after Hahn returned a 3.35 ERA through 16 starts in 2015, and it is likely he'll work his way back into the starting rotation for Oakland at some point this season. He is a potential stash candidate in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Doubront has a 4.64 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP through 85 career starts, and he should only be utilized in extremely favorable matchups as a streamer in deep leagues.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn throwing without pain

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 23:46:20 -0800

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (elbow) is expected to be ready for spring training. He said Sunday, Jan. 24, that he is throwing without pain.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn appears to be ready for the regular season, but he is an injury risk for fantasy owners in AL-only leagues and deeper mixed formats.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn's season may be over

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 11:14:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) may not pitch again this year, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) hasn't even resumed throwing yet, so it's definitely a long shot that we see him again this season. Leave him to your league's waiver wire.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn still has pain

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 16:47:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) still is experiencing stiffness in his forearm during strengthening exercises, according to manager Bob Melvin. Hahn will not resume throwing until he is pain-free.

Fantasy Tip: That basically means that Hahn ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will miss more than his original diagnosis of a month. That's good news for the likes of Chris Bassitt and Aaron Brooks, who could stick in the rotation for even longer if they pitch well. Bassitt and Brooks are both worth considering if you need pitching help in deeper leagues.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn out a month

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 16:12:20 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) was diagnosed with no structural damage to his ligaments after receiving a second opinion on his elbow, but he will be shut down for more than a month. Hahn is dealing with inflammation. He will also receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to speed his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: That's a significant hit for Hahn ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) and his owners, and it ensures that he's unlikely to make much of an impact in the second half of this season. Drop him in shallow mixed leagues if you don't have the room to stash. Chris Bassitt ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) could stick in the rotation a while longer if he pitches well, and he now has more long-term value in AL leagues.
