Athletics | Jesse Hahn sent back down

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 16:04:56 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn was sent back to Class AAA Nashville Monday, July 25, after he allowed just one run in 7 2/3 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, July 24. The A's have off days Thursday, July 28, and Sept. 1, so they only need four starters, and SP Rich Hill (finger) is expected back soon.

Fantasy Tip: All along it was known this was just a spot start for Hahn, so he didn't carry much fantasy value. Even with the strong effort he has a 5.53 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and ugly 4.5 K/9. He's a deep sleeper as a matchup play, at best, if he sees another start at some point for the A's this year.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn solid in spot start

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 20:03:11 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn allowed one run on four hits while walking one and striking out five over 7 2/3 innings in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn had one of his best outings of an otherwise lackluster year, and if he happens to land a permanent spot in the rotation, he could be worth a flier in AL-only leagues.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn to start Sunday

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 16:05:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn will make the start against the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: It's just another spot start for Hahn, who has a 6.49 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and ugly 4.2 K/9 in seven starts for the A's in 2016. He could join the rotation permanently if Rich Hill is traded, but Hahn shouldn't be on anyone's radar outside of AL-only leagues as a shaky matchup play.

Athletics | Max Muncy recalled

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 10:55:59 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Max Muncy and SP Zach Neal were recalled from Class AAA Nashville Friday, June 10, while SP Jesse Hahn was sent to Nashville.

Fantasy Tip: Muncy has a .263-7-20 line at Triple-A, and he'll be a basement option in good matchups in DFS. Neal is 6-1 with a 2.83 ERA in the minors, but he has fanned just 23 in 47 2/3 innings. His fantasy prowess is pretty minimal if he makes a start.

Athletics | Oakland tweaks starting rotation

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:34:30 -0700

Oakland Athletics SPs Kendall Graveman and Sean Manaea will pitch against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, June 11, and Sunday June 12, respectively, and SP Jesse Hahn will pitch against the Texas Rangers Monday, June 13.

Fantasy Tip: Great American Ball Park isn't an ideal pitching environment, and Graveman (5.49 ERA) and Manaea (6.20) haven't done enough this season to be considered reliable starts in any fantasy format. Similarly, the Rangers have a high-powered offense, and Hahn owns a 6.10 ERA this season.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn roughed up in H-Town

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 21:21:06 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn was roughed up for seven earned runs, six hits and two walks while retiring just two batters in a loss Friday, June 3, against the Houston Astros. He threw 38 pitches, throwing 23 for strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn's ERA shot up from 4.15 to 6.10 with the awful outing. He has given up at least three earned runs in each of his past five outings, and he is only worth a look in the deepest of AL-only fantasy formats at this point.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn logs quality start

Tue, 17 May 2016 23:43:47 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn put together a quality start in his return to the rotation Tuesday, May 17, opposite the Texas Rangers. He went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits, including a pair of home runs. He also walked one and struck out two.

Fantasy Tip: Not the prettiest of outings but Hahn has real potential to stand out in deep leagues, as he's now recorded a quality start in two of his three assignments this season. He should stick with the club this time around, meaning owners should be willing to give him a shot, at the very least in AL-only leagues. Hahn can consistently contribute if he can stay healthy.

Athletics | Josh Phegley to DL, Jesse Hahn up

Tue, 17 May 2016 09:27:29 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley (knee) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right knee inflammation Tuesday, May 17. SP Jesse Hahn was called up from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley is the A's backup catcher, so he had minimal fantasy value in deep AL-only and two-catcher formats. Hahn will be making the start against the Rangers Tuesday night. He has a 3.00 ERA with only four strikeouts in 12 innings in his two starts for Oakland this year. If he sticks in the rotation he's one to consider adding in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, but his lack of strikeouts (career 6.8 K/9) limits his upside. He's a weak option in daily leagues tonight.
