Athletics | Jesse Hahn out a month

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 16:12:20 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) was diagnosed with no structural damage to his ligaments after receiving a second opinion on his elbow, but he will be shut down for more than a month. Hahn is dealing with inflammation. He will also receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to speed his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: That's a significant hit for Hahn ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) and his owners, and it ensures that he's unlikely to make much of an impact in the second half of this season. Drop him in shallow mixed leagues if you don't have the room to stash. Chris Bassitt ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) could stick in the rotation a while longer if he pitches well, and he now has more long-term value in AL leagues.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn out for a while

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 12:32:11 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) will be out of the starting rotation for an extended time, according to general manager Billy Beane. Hahn was put on the disabled list and missed his last start last weekend with a flexor tendon problem in his arm. The A's don't need a fifth starter again until July 25, and it seems that starter will be SP Chris Bassitt, who filled in for two starts when SP Sonny Gray (illness) was sick. Bassitt has a 2.65 ERA and didn't allow more than two runs in any of his three starts for the A's this year.

Fantasy Tip: Stash Hahn in a DL spot if you can in all leagues. Bassitt ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has looked good in his three starts for the A's. He struck out 9.1 hitters per nine innings in the minors this year, but he managed to fan only 17 hitters in 27 2/3 innings in Oakland. He's strictly an AL-only commodity for now, and he'll be a deep sleeper pick on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn placed on DL

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 07:33:50 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, July 11, because of a forearm injury. The team also recalled P Chris Bassitt from Class AAA Nashville.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) likely will miss several weeks because of the injury, so owners should monitor his recovery. Bassitt ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will be the starting pitcher Saturday but probably will not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn has forearm strain

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 14:09:17 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) is dealing with a forearm strain and will be shut down for two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn will land on the disabled list heading into the All-Star break. Stash him f you can in all formats. Chris Bassitt ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will stick around and take Hahn's spot in the rotation. He's posted a 2.95 ERA in two starts in place of Sonny Gray recently, but Bassitt will be a weaker starting pitching play on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn scratched from next start

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 13:57:47 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (elbow) will not make his start against the Cleveland Indians Saturday, July 11. SP Chris Bassitt will start in his place Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has been dealing with elbow tightness and will undergo an MRI exam. Bassitt ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be viewed as a low-end spot start in all formats, and he is likely best avoided at FantasyScore.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn expects to go Saturday

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 14:21:08 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (elbow) threw a bullpen session Wednesday, July 8, and he expects he will have no problems making his scheduled start against the Cleveland Indians Saturday, July 11. Hahn has been dealing with elbow tightness.

Fantasy Tip: There is an additional level of risk with Hahn ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) now due to his elbow injury. FantasyScore players could be wise to wait for him to prove he can effectively navigate a lineup before utilizing him in contests. Seasonal owners, likewise, shouldn't be scared to bench Hahn for the start Saturday.

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 06:42:17 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (elbow) has been pushed back to Saturday, July 11, against the Cleveland Indians due to slight right elbow discomfort.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is a midrange starter on FantasyScore, but it might be best to avoid him for now.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn shuts down Tigers again

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 14:59:36 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn gave up just one run in seven innings to beat the Detroit Tigers again Thursday, June 4. He allowed five hits while striking out five and walking one. He threw 65 of his 104 pitches for strikes and lowered his season ERA to 3.51 with the solid effort.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) threw a complete-game shutout last time he faced the Tigers in Oakland May 25. His defense has betrayed him often this year, but when he's on, he induces plenty of ground-ball outs and can be a very effective matchup play on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn suffering from bad luck

Sun, 31 May 2015 05:04:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn leads the league in opponents reaching base on an error (10) and has allowed the most unearned runs (8) in the American League.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) followed up his four-hit shutout Monday, May 25, with a loss where he allowed four runs -- three earned -- Saturday, May 30. Given his unluckiness and 3.28 FIP, there are likely clearer skies ahead for Hahn. Don't count him out yet in deep mixed and FantasyScore contests, although, it isn't out of the question to be a little conservative and sit him in tough matchups.

Athletics | Jesse Hahn overcomes poor defense

Mon, 25 May 2015 16:29:13 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn became the first player to throw a shutout in a game in which his team made at least three errors since John Smoltz did it in 2005, Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been up and down to start the season, but he showed another flash of brilliance Monday, allowing just one walk and four hits, while striking out five over nine full innings. Hahn's FIP and xFIP and are both well below his 4.43 ERA, and they're should be some more dominant outings on the way.
