The Chicago Cubs traded 2B Mike Fontenot to the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, Aug. 11, in exchange for OF Evan Crawford, according to MLB.com's Chris Haft.

The San Francisco Giants acquired 2B Mike Fontenot from the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, Aug. 11, in exchange for OF Evan Crawford, according to MLB.com's Chris Haft. Manager Bruce Bochy said he might give Fontenot playing time at second base as an alternative to 2B Freddy Sanchez. "I could, depending on how it goes," Bochy said. "(Fontenot) can play some third, double-switch, things like that." Fontenot could also play shortstop on occasion.
