Mon, 17 Jun 2013 17:58:58 -0700 Houston Astros OF Trevor Crowe has supplanted Jimmy Paredes as the team's starting right fielder, according to manager Bo Porter. "He does a great job and makes things happen," Porter said. "You look at the batting average, and I'm not a batting average guy. He's an above-average defender and gives us great flexibility because he's a switch-hitter. He's just a baseball player and understands the game. We'll continue to find opportunities for him."
Wed, 15 May 2013 12:33:25 -0700 Houston Astros OF Justin Maxwell (hand) has started lightly swinging a fungo bat as he recovers from a fractured left hand. Fantasy Tip: Maxwell still needs significant time to come back from his injury. In the meantime, the Astros have drastically changed their outfield alignment, beginning when they released Rick Ankiel. Jimmy Paredes, Robbie Grossman and J.D. Martinez have earned consistent playing time, and depending on how they're playing when Maxwell returns, he may find himself without regular PT.
Tue, 14 May 2013 18:11:52 -0700 Houston Astros manager Bo Porter said before the game Monday, May 13, that OFs Robbie Grossman, J.D. Martinez and Jimmy Paredes will be his three starting outfielders. Porter said he wants to give the trio consistent playing time to determine if they're capable of being everyday players. Fantasy Tip: Despite the regular playing time, only Martinez is worth a look in anything more than the deepest of NL-only fantasy leagues.
Mon, 06 May 2013 16:40:23 -0700 Houston Astros OF Chris Carter will remain an everyday player, but he'll likely spend more time at first base and designated hitter now, according to general manager Jeff Luhnow. Fantasy Tip: With the Astros' outfield roster shuffle Monday, J.D. Martinez should receive regular playing time now that he's back from the disabled list, and he's a target for AL-only leaguers. Robbie Grossman, Jimmy Paredes and Trevor Crowe will likely battle for playing time for the other outfield spots, along with Brandon Barnes, if Carter isn't starting in the outfield. Grossman, Paredes and Crowe are all switch-hitters, too, so the playing time could be very fluid, and Bo Porter may choose to ride the hot hand.
Mon, 06 May 2013 15:14:24 -0700 The Houston Astros activated OF J.D. Martinez (knee) from the disabled list and recalled OFs Trevor Crowe and Jimmy Paredes from the minors Monday, May 6. In corresponding moves, OFs Rick Ankiel and Fernando Martinez were designated for assignment. Fantasy Tip: Houston clearly wasn't going to put up with Ankiel's all-or-nothing style of offensive production, which usually resulted more in nothing than anything. It's unclear exactly how Crowe, Paredes and J.D. Martinez will be utilized in the outfield alongside Brandon Barnes and Chris Carter. Martinez probably has the most upside of the three, though, but he's not worth spending any money on just yet in mixed leagues.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 11:16:51 -0700 The Houston Astros have optioned OFs Robbie Grossman and Jimmy Paredes, SS Jonathan Villar and Ps Paul Clemens and Dallas Keuchel to minor league camp. They have also reassigned OF Che-Hsuan Lin, C Carlos Perez and Ps Sergio Escalona, Chuck Fick and Josh Zeid to minor league camp.
Sun, 16 Sep 2012 10:40:33 -0700 Houston Astros OF Fernando Martinez has been scratched from the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday, Sept. 16. OF Jimmy Paredes will start in right field.
Mon, 27 Aug 2012 13:01:47 -0700 Houston Astros INF Jimmy Paredes will play right field for the team, according to general manager Jeff Luhnow.
Mon, 27 Aug 2012 11:04:50 -0700 The Houston Astros recalled INF Jimmy Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City Monday, Aug. 27.
Tue, 17 Jul 2012 06:08:49 -0700 Houston Astros 2B Jimmy Paredes may be moved to the outfield. He's hitting .315 with seven homers, 38 RBIs and 28 stolen bases at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
