Braves | Jace Peterson not playing Tuesday

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:19:48 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson is not in the lineup Tuesday, Sept. 29, against the Washington Nationals. 2B Daniel Castro is at second in the lineup against Nationals SP Tanner Roark.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitless in 10 at-bats against Roark, hence the decision to give him a night off. Castro ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has a .222 mark against Roark, so he carries little FantasyScore value.

Braves | Cameron Maybin out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:15:49 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Cameron Maybin is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 29, against the Washington Nationals. OF Michael Bourn is hitting eighth against Nationals SP Tanner Roark.

Fantasy Tip: Maybin ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) appears to be getting a normal night off so the Braves can try different lineups. Bourn ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting .467 in the last week, so if you're looking to save some cap space he may make a solid addition.

Nationals | Joe Ross moving to 'pen

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 13:37:38 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross will move to the bullpen for the rest of the year. SP Tanner Roark will take Ross' spot in the starting rotation. The Nationals saw Ross fatiguing in his last two starts.

Fantasy Tip: This was an expected move as the Nats look to protect Ross' innings total this season. Roark ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) broke out with Washington last year, going 15-10 with a 2.85 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 6.3 strikeouts per nine innings. He's certainly worth a look in deep mixed leagues down the stretch, and he could be a great value pick on FantasyScore in the right matchups.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg to throw bullpen

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 09:13:36 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (back) will throw an extended bullpen session Thursday, Sept. 3, and manager Matt Williams said Strasburg will need at least two days after that before making his next start. SP Tanner Roark will be recalled from the minors to start in Strasburg's place Friday, Sept. 4, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) could return to start sometime this weekend, but a more realistic option is for him to face the rival New York Mets early next week. It's disappointing for his fantasy owners, because he was looking very sharp and healthy after returning from his DL stint. Using him on FantasyScore in his next start could be dicey, since his pitch count may be limited. Roark ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) isn't a bad deep sleeper as your second daily starter Friday against the Braves, who ranked 27th in team OPS in August (.693).

Nationals | Tanner Roark to start Friday

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 17:41:04 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark will make the start Friday, Sept. 4, against the Atlanta Braves in place of the injured SP Stephen Strasburg (back).

Fantasy Tip: Roark has starting experience, and once Strasburg is able to return the former starter Roark is expected to keep a rotation spot at the expense of youngster Joe Ross, who has reached his innings ceiling. However, the latter is not exactly written in stone.

Nationals | Tanner Roark being stretched out

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 17:42:00 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark will transition back to a starting job and he is expected to return to the big league club Sept. 1 when roster expand. If all goes well he will take the rotation spot of SP Joe Ross, who has pitched more innings than before in his career. Roark is set to throw around 60 pitches for a start with Class A Potomac, with his next outing set for 80 pitches. Then, he will head back to D.C.

Fantasy Tip: Roark has starting experience, and he could be a cheap FantasyScore option in September if he hangs onto the starting job for the full month.

Nationals | Tanner Roark reinstated

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 09:41:45 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark was reinstated from the paternity list Sunday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: Roark ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings in five starts since recently joining the rotation, and he deserves to be owned in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for as long as he remains in the rotation. He's not a bad under-the-radar option at FantasyScore, either.

Nationals | Tanner Roark placed on paternity list

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 19:10:27 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark has been placed on the paternity list, as he and his wife are expecting their second child. In a corresponding move, P Taylor Hill has been called up from Class AAA Syracuse.

Fantasy Tip: Players who are placed on the paternity list can miss up to three days. Roark ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) had been scheduled to start the series finale against the Miami Marlins Sunday, June 21, but it is uncertain whether he will be back with the team by then.

Nationals | Tanner Roark wins again

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 06:01:50 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark allowed four runs on six hits while striking out six over 5 2/3 innings to record his second win of the season during Washington's 7-5 win over the Chicago Cubs Friday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: While it wasn't his best outing, the six strikeouts and the win help ease the slight blow to his ERA. As a starter, Roark ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) now sits at 20-11 with a 2.78 ERA, a 1.06 ERA and a 6.2 K/9. He is a solid option in all formats at this point, and with the Nationals' rotation a little banged up, he should receive at least a few more starts. His current FantasyScore price screams profit, too.

Nationals | Tanner Roark solid in start

Mon, 25 May 2015 20:13:38 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs Monday, May 25, in his first start of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Roark ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) posted a 2.85 ERA in 31 starts last year, so it should be no surprise he was solid Sunday. If Roark makes another start or two in place of the injured Doug Fister (forearm), he should be a great bargain option at FantasyScore.
