Sun, 02 Jun 2013 23:14:23 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin became the major leagues' first nine-game winner Sunday, June 2, as the Diamondbacks topped the Chicago Cubs 8-4. Corbin (9-0) allowed four runs and six hits, tying the team record for consecutive wins at the start of the season, set by Brandon Webb in 2008. The Diamondbacks are 11-0 in his starts.
Sun, 26 May 2013 22:55:49 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin became the first lefthander in team history to start a season with eight straight victories. Corbin pitched six innings and allowed more than two runs for the first time all year, but his team pulled out a 6-5 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday, May 26.
Tue, 21 May 2013 11:24:04 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin tossed a three-hit complete game and struck out 10 in his win over the Colorado Rockies Monday, May 20, and he became the third visiting pitcher to throw a full game with 10 or more strikeouts, and the first to do so since 1998. He's the second pitcher in the last 20 years to open the season with nine straight starts of allowing two runs or less in six innings or more. Corbin threw 74 of his 97 pitches for strikes, and the Rockies swung at 21 of his 34 breaking pitches, missing on 15 of them. Corbin's breaking ball has been his bread and butter; opponents this season have taken 94 hacks at the pitch and fanned 54 times, making his 58 percent swinging strike rate the highest in the league. His 39 strikeouts with his breaking balls are third most for a pitcher in the National League.
Fri, 10 May 2013 10:03:05 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin allowed four hits and just one run in 6 1/3 innings to beat the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday, May 9, and in the process lowered his ERA to 1.75 on the year. He became the first hurler to throw at least six innings and allow two runs or fewer in his first seven starts of the season since SP Ubaldo Jimenez had 12 straight such outings with the Colorado Rockies in 2010. Corbin tossed only 89 pitches and didn't let a runner reach third base. He walked only two and struck out four in the contest. Fantasy Tip: Corbin came into this year definitely underrated, but he isn't any longer. He's made gains in dominance, control and his ground-ball inducement all together, which is the reason for his success. He should be owned everywhere.
Sun, 05 May 2013 01:07:38 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin gave up one run and five hits while striking out seven in an 8-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Saturday, May 4. He walked three while his ERA dropped to 1.80. Corbin has opened the season by pitching at least six innings and allowing two runs or less in his six starts — all Arizona victories.
Sat, 30 Mar 2013 16:21:23 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin has earned the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation. He could make his first start Friday, April 5, or Saturday, April 6. Fantasy Tip: Corbin beat out Randall Delgado for the final spot in the starting rotation. He could be an option in National League-only leagues but probably should not be owned in mixed leagues at this point.
Tue, 26 Mar 2013 15:23:10 -0700 The Arizona Diamondbacks have yet to decide between SPs Randall Delgado and Patrick Corbin for the No. 5 starter job. Each pitcher will have one more outing before a decision is made.
Mon, 18 Mar 2013 14:52:46 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Randall Delgado allowed just two runs in five innings Monday, March 18, strengthening his case for the No. 5 rotation spot. He is competing with SP Patrick Corbin. Fantasy Tip: Delgado appears to be the favorite for the rotation spot based on his spring performance. He made solid gains in his ability to induced grounders last season. His inconsistent control and command limit his value to NL-only leagues, though.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 16:46:20 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Randall Delgado impressed Thursday, March 14, by throwing four shutout innings. He is competing with SPs Patrick Corbin and Tyler Skaggs for the No. 5 rotation post. "That's as good as we've seen this spring out of our staff," Kirk Gibson said of Delgado. "He looked really good, had good velocity, all his pitches were working. He got into some trouble early and got out of it. That's the kind of guy that we were hoping we'd get."
Wed, 06 Mar 2013 20:50:14 -0800 Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin suffered his first poor outing of the spring Wednesday, March 6, allowing four runs in one inning against the Kansas City Royals. He is battling SPs Randall Delgado and Tyler Skaggs for the fifth starter spot in the rotation.
