Houston Astros 1B Jon Singleton worked closely with hitting coach John Mallee Monday, July 28, in the batting cages. Mallee said the results were "absolutely amazing" and said now it's a matter of Singleton trusting it enough to use in games. "I'm trying to get the big-muscle-bodyness out of his swing and trying to get him more direct to the ball, shorten his path," Mallee said. "He's been overswinging and hitting long. We came out and did some tee work on the field and some flips and some high-velocity sport pitch to where the ball is on him almost at the same reaction time as it is in the game."
Fantasy Tip: Singleton has plenty of power, but he has posted a poor .178 average in 163 at-bats since his recall. He is a promising talent, and a must-have in long-term keeper fantasy formats, but right now he is not helping anyone in re-draft leagues.

The Houston Astros will recall 1B Jon Singleton from Triple-A Oklahoma City for their game Tuesday, June 3.
Fantasy Tip: Singleton is one of this year's top prospects in all of baseball. He has a natural swing from the left side that will generate plenty of power at the next level, especially while taking his hacks in Houston. He should be added in all formats immediately, and he should play at least semi-regularly the rest of the way.

Houston Astros 1B Jon Singleton isn't close to joining the big league club, according to general manager Jeff Luhnow. Singleton went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run with Triple-A Oklahoma City Wednesday, April 16, and is batting .358 with a .460 on-base percentage, five home runs and 18 RBIs in 13 games. "We're happy that Singleton is off to a good start," Luhnow said. "He does not have the Triple-A track record that Springer has yet. We feel he needs to develop that track record. We're always going to be in a position where our fans want our top prospects to come up here sooner than we think they're ready to come up here."
Fantasy Tip: Singleton owners were hoping he'd be next after fellow prospect George Springer got the call this week. That won't be the case for now, but Singleton is still worth stashing in mixed leagues, because if he keeps raking like he is now, Houston will find a spot for him sooner rather than later.

The Houston Astros re-assigned 1B Jon Singleton, SS Carlos Correa, SPs Mark Appel and Mike Foltynewicz and OFs Delino DeShields Jr. and Gary Springer to minor league camp Thursday, March 20.
Fantasy Tip: Springer projects to be the first prospect called up to the bigs this year, but he could easily be joined by Singleton and Correa later in the year.
