Rays | Steven Souza not in lineup vs. Jays

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 12:10:15 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza is not in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Souza ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Friday. He had to leave the game early Wednesday, April 22, due to forearm cramps, so he is likely receiving a rest day. However, it is still worth checking back for updates to make sure it is just a routine day off. Brandon Guyer ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) draws into the lineup Friday, but he is nothing more than a low-priced flier in FantasyScore contests.

Rays | Steven Souza nursing cramp

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 18:51:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza (forearm) suffered a cramp in the right forearm Wednesday, April 22, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Souza could have dodged a bullet here, as the way he left looked like a possible hamate bone injury. A cramp is nothing compared to that, obviously. Still, be careful in FantasyScore with Souza at $3,100 (or 6.2% of cap). Let him prove his health in one full game before trusting him again.

Fantasy Tip: With the injury scare removed, continue to target Souza in the late middle rounds as a potential breakout candidate. He offers a nice power-speed profile and hit 18 home runs, stole 28 bases and slashed .345/.427/.577 over three stops in the minors last season.
