David Adams Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest David Adams MLB and fantasy baseball news
Tue, 18 Jun 2013 13:00:32 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) will have back surgery to fix a herniated disc Thursday, June 21, and he'll be out for the next 10 to 12 weeks, at minimum. Fantasy Tip: As Sherman suggests, Youk's career with the Yanks is likely done. Don't expect him to play again this season. It's probably safe to drop him in most mixed leagues at this point. Until Alex Rodriguez (hip) returns sometime after the All-Star break, the Yanks will continue to use a combo of David Adams and Jayson Nix at the hot corner.
Wed, 29 May 2013 12:27:24 -0700 New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) and 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) both appear healthy and ready to return from the disabled list Friday, May 31. Both players will first rehab with Double-A Trenton for two games this week before rejoining the Yankees, though. Teixeira went hitless with a walk Wednesday and Youkilis went hitless with a walk, as well. Teixeira has been pain-free in his rehab but admitted that he's further along from the right side of the plate than the left. Fantasy Tip: The return of Tex and Youk will push Lyle Overbay and David Adams out of regular work and possibly roster spots. Jayson Nix will continue to see time at shortstop until Eduardo Nunez (oblique) returns. Expect Joe Girardi to look to rest Teixeira and Youkilis frequently initially, but both should be put in your lineup on a daily basis.
Wed, 15 May 2013 13:01:28 -0700 New York Yankees INF David Adams was called up from the minors Wednesday, May 15, and 3B Chris Nelson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Adams will serve as infield depth with Eduardo Nunez (ribs) still out. Once Nunez returns, expect Jayson Nix to shift back to third base. Adams will probably receive occasional starts, but likely shouldn't warrant attention outside of AL-only leagues.
Tue, 14 May 2013 12:11:26 -0700 The New York Yankees plan to recall INF David Adams from the minors Wednesday, May 15. Fantasy Tip: Adams has moderate gap-to-gap power but just average speed on the basepaths. He'll give the Yankees some much needed infield depth until Eduardo Nunez (ribs) and Kevin Youkilis (back) return from their ailments. Adams probably won't play enough to warrant ownership in mixed leagues.
Fri, 29 Mar 2013 12:47:38 -0700 The New York Yankees re-signed 2B David Adams to a minor league deal Friday, March 29.
Tue, 26 Mar 2013 15:37:36 -0700 The New York Yankees released 2B David Adams Tuesday, March 26.
Wed, 06 Mar 2013 10:51:34 -0800 The New York Yankees optioned 2B David Adams to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Tuesday, March 5.
Wed, 13 Feb 2013 19:09:58 -0800 New York Yankees 2B David Adams (ankle, back) will be behind schedule when position players report to camp Sunday, Feb. 17, due to a back injury. He missed most of two seasons with a persistent ankle injury, too. "He's rehabbing currently some back issues," general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday, Feb. 13. "So he'll start behind in big league camp."
Fri, 07 Dec 2012 09:03:18 -0800 The New York Yankees met with Joe Bick, the agent for free-agent 3B Kevin Youkilis (White Sox), twice during the winter meetings this week. Youkilis is believed to be willing to sign for one year if the salary was high enough. The Cleveland Indians are New York's prime competition for the services of Youkilis. New York doesn't think their in-house options of SS Eduardo Nunez or INF Jayson Nix are sufficient stop-gaps at third base in 3B Alex Rodriguez's (hip) absence. Minor league 3Bs David Adams and Ronnier Mustelier are not realistic options.
Mon, 03 Dec 2012 15:50:58 -0800 New York Yankees INF Jayson Nix is the leading in-house candidate to take over at third place in the absence of 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip), with 3Bs David Adams and Ronnier Mustelier behind him. General manager Brian Cashman said SS Derek Jeter is not a candidate to shift over to third base.
