Thu, 23 May 2013 13:21:02 -0700 New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (shoulder) has two more extended spring outings before he can start his 30-day rehab assignment, which means he could join the team's rotation by the end of June. However, general manager Brian Cashman said Pineda must be pitching well in order to be considered for a spot in the rotation. Fantasy Tip: It's too soon to say whether Pineda will immediately become an option for the Yankees' rotation in June, but it's likely that he'll get a chance to prove himself in the second half of the season. That's enough to peak interest in deep mixed leagues if you're looking for rotation help by then.
Mon, 20 May 2013 12:37:52 -0700 New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova (biceps) is throwing an extended spring training game Monday, May 20, and he could be activated from the disabled list after that. SS Eduardo Nunez (rib cage) is "ten days away for us to think about New York," general manager Brian Cashman said. SP Michael Pineda (shoulder) threw in an extended spring game Saturday, May 18, and received strong reviews during the 51-pitch outing. The team is hoping he'll make two more starts Thursday, May 23, and May 28, before beginning an official rehab assignment.
Thu, 16 May 2013 16:20:42 -0700 New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (shoulder) is scheduled to throw four innings or 50 pitches in Florida Friday, May 17. He is expected to return to the team this summer. Fantasy Tip: Pineda's velocity has been looking good while he rehabs. Keep him on your radar in deep mixed leagues as he gets closer to a return this summer. If he regains any of his skills from before his injury, he could become a very nice pitching asset for the second half of the season.
Thu, 09 May 2013 10:21:59 -0700 New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (shoulder) will make another extended spring start Monday, May 13, and general manager Brian Cashman said Pineda's fastball has been clocked in the mid-90 mph range, and Pineda said he's been feeling good on the mound. However, it's unknown how far off he is before he'll embark on a minor league rehab assignment. Fantasy Tip: Pineda is coming along slowly but should be able to help out the Yankees' rotation in the second half of the season. Don't lose sight of him in deep mixed leagues. The fact that his velocity appears to be back is a great sign, but continue to monitor this as he approaches a rehab assignment.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:53:29 -0700 New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (elbow) has been throwing his fastball at 93-94 mph during his rehab.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:50:47 -0700 New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (elbow) threw a one-inning simulated game Monday, April 22, and used all of his pitches. Manager Joe Girardi said Pineda looked good. Fantasy Tip: Pineda probably won't be ready to return to game action until around mid-summer, but he shouldn't be forgotten in deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats around that time. Keep him on your watch list.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 19:29:41 -0700 New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (elbow) threw a live batting practice session of 35 pitches, split into two sessions Tuesday, April 16. It was his third batting practice session, and a return to the big leagues in late May or early June remains possible.

Thu, 14 Feb 2013 13:35:15 -0800 The New York Yankees are pleased with SP Michael Pineda's (shoulder) new appearance this spring and are optimistic that he can return this season around sometime in June. He's currently throwing off a mound, but the team plans to be cautious with him. Pineda will not pitch in any spring contests, but he could start pitching in minor league games in May.
