Yankees | Michael Pineda avoids arbitration

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 12:39:46 -0800

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda re-signed a one-year contract to avoid arbitration Friday, Jan. 15. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda struggled down the stretch last season with a 4.93 ERA through seven starts in September, which led to a 4.37 mark for the season. However, Pineda's .332 BABIP, 3.34 FIP, 8.7 K/9 and 1.2 BB/9 suggest there may have been some tough luck along the way. View him as end-of-the-rotation fantasy arm to target in the late middle rounds of drafts this spring.

Red Sox | Rusney Castillo out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 12:32:08 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Rusney Castillo (quadriceps) is not starting Tuesday, Sept. 29, against the New York Yankees. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. replaces Castillo and bats ninth against Yankees SP Michael Pineda.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) still feels the effects of a minor quad strain, according to sources, so he will take a seat again. Bradley ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is 2-for-4 against Pineda but has a .150 average in the last week, so in the end you should leave him on the bench.

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (12-8) allowed one run on eight hits over six innings in a victory over the Chicago White Sox Thursday, Sept. 24, with no walks and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) has posted a 0.79 ERA over his last two starts and hasn't lost since Aug. 26. His next start will come against the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Yankees | Michael Pineda shows signs of life

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 18:20:51 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda allowed four hits and struck out four over 5 1/3 scoreless innings in a win over the New York Mets Saturday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: It was the first scoreless outing for Pineda ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) since July 4, but he needs to string together a couple of more solid outings before he needs your consideration at FantasyScore.

Yankees | Michael Pineda knocked around again

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 17:37:49 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda allowed four runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday, Sept. 12, allowing three home runs for the first time since 2011.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) has allowed at least four runs in five of his last six starts, and he isn't a good option at FantasyScore right now.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez out Tuesday

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 12:37:52 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is out for the fifth day in a row due to shoulder issues. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is in the lineup and hitting ninth against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda.

Fantasy Tip: Indications are this shoulder has been hurting Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) for longer than just a few days, and Bradley ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been better-hitting and fantastic on defense. This is likely why Ramirez is learning first base. Keep Ramirez seated from any FantasyScore lineups, and it may be time to consider shelving him for the season.

Yankees | Michael Pineda has unspectacular return

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 19:52:18 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (forearm) returned from the 15-day disabled list to start Wednesday, Aug. 26, against the Houston Astros but he allowed five earned runs, six hits and a walk in just 4 1/3 innings in a loss.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) made just 71 pitches before hitting the showers. Give him one more outing to prove his health and get untracked before sinking money into him in FantasyScore.

Yankees | Michael Pineda to return Wednesday

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 09:17:17 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (forearm) is slated to return from the disabled list Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) should have been held onto in all leagues. If he was dropped for some reason, pick him up immediately, as he can definitely help your fantasy pitching staff in the final month of the season.

Yankees | Michael Pineda spins 62 pitches

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 05:39:37 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (forearm) threw 62 pitches during his second rehab outing with Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: It could be Pineda's ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) last tune up before he rejoins the New York rotation, but you'll want to double-check for an official announcement before making any hasty roster decisions. It would be advised to take a wait-and-see approach with Pineda in all fantasy formats when he returns from the disabled list, especially at FantasyScore.

Yankees | Michael Pineda to rehab Friday

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 10:02:58 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (forearm) will make a rehab start Friday, Aug. 21, according to manager Joe Girardi.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) should return by early next month, but you might want to hold off on using him on FantasyScore until he proves he's fully healthy again.
