Former Florida Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez said he believes the team is missing a veteran to be an influence in the clubhouse. "I think it was that we were missing that veteran voice, veteran influence in the clubhouse that would take charge of that because as a coach and as a manager there's so much you can say or do," Rodriguez said.

Updating previous reports, Florida Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez met with free-agent SP Javier Vazquez (Yankees) Saturday, Nov. 20, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post. "He's from my hometown in Ponce, (Puerto Rico)," Rodriguez told host Glenn Geffner on Marlins Insider, a weekly radio show on 790-AM. "I've known him well since he was 14, 15 years old. He's very confident about the whole situation. He told me where he's at right now. Hopefully we can get him and put him in that rotation. If we have a chance to sign him he's gonna be a great acquisition."

Florida Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez said the first three batters in the batting order next season will be 3B Chris Coghlan, 2B Omar Infante and SS Hanley Ramirez, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post. The rest of the lineup has not yet been finalized. OF Mike Stanton is expected to bat fifth or sixth, although Rodriguez said he could be moved to cleanup if he has a huge spring.
