Tue, 14 May 2013 18:11:18 -0700 Houston Astros manager Bo Porter announced Tuesday, May 14, that SP Jordan Lyles will slide up a day to pitch Friday, May 17, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Porter wants to break up his left-handed starters, and the scheduled off day Thursday, May 16, allows him to do that.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:52:22 -0700 The Houston Astros recalled SPs Jordan Lyles and Dallas Keuchel from Triple-A Oklahoma City Thursday, May 2.
Wed, 01 May 2013 14:02:29 -0700 Houston Astros SP Jordan Lyles will make the start Thursday, May 2, according to manager Bo Porter. Fantasy Tip: Lyles will take the spot of Brad Peacock, who was banished to the bullpen for the time being. It's unclear if Lyles will stick in the rotation, but he'll probably be given an opportunity to, at least in the short term. Lyles wasn't exactly impressing at Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, and he's still in the process of growing as a pitcher. Unless he continues to build on his ground-ball prowess in conjuction with solid command, he won't be more than a streaming option in deep mixed leagues.
Wed, 20 Mar 2013 12:11:09 -0700 The Houston Astros optioned SPs Jordan Lyles and John Ely to Triple-A Oklahoma City Wednesday, March 20. Ps Alex White, Brad Peacock, Edgar G. Gonzalez and Erik Bedard are now battling for the final two spots in the starting rotation. Gonzalez is likely to be used in long relief. Lyles had given up 36 hits and 23 earned runs in just 11 2/3 spring innings. Fantasy Tip: Lyles was working on some things this spring as he matures as a pitcher. Don't write him off after he made significant command gains at the end of last season. He'll be back. Peacock is probably the most intriguing pitcher in the competition for a roster spot and should be given a look in deep NL leagues.
Fri, 08 Mar 2013 13:18:14 -0800 Houston Astros SP Jordan Lyles said he was throwing mostly fastballs and changeups in his outing Friday, March 8, in which he allowed seven hits and six runs in just two-thirds of an inning. "The past few years I've had a tendency to dip my shoulders a little bit and I was working on staying back a little more," he said. "It was good work. I understand why they came and got me this early. There's no need for me to throw as many pitches as I did in one inning. I wasn't upset about that, and it gives me a chance to get work in at my own pace." Lyles is 0-3 with a 25.20 ERA this spring in five innings over three starts, but he said he's not concerned.
Mon, 21 Jan 2013 17:51:26 -0800 Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said SP Erik Bedard should have a spot in the Houston Astros rotation this year behind right-handed P Bud Norris, P Lucas Harrell and P Jordan Lyles. "When you have a lot of right-handers in the mix and to have a left-hander with his type of Major League experience and success and track record, it can only help us," Luhnow said. "He's got a strong chance to be in our rotation all year long, and we're hoping that's the Erik Bedard that's had tremendous success already in his big league career."
Mon, 01 Oct 2012 06:11:30 -0700 Houston Astros SP Jordan Lyles allowed four hits and a walk while fanning three in a complete-game shutout of the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday, Sept. 30.
Mon, 20 Aug 2012 13:22:53 -0700 The Houston Astros have considered limiting the workloads of SPs Jordan Lyles and Dallas Keuchel, in addition to SP Lucas Harrell. Lyles tossed 156 1/3 innings last year and is at 143 1/3 with eight starts to go this season. Keuchel is at 147 total innings with eight starts to go after throwing 174 1/3 frames in 2010. P Fernando Abad is making the move back to a starter, and he could be used down the stretch.
Sun, 22 Jul 2012 18:40:34 -0700 Houston Astros SP Jordan Lyles was touched up for eight runs - five earned - and 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings in a loss Sunday, July 22, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Lyles is now 0-5 in eight road starts this season.
Fri, 13 Jul 2012 19:06:59 -0700 Houston Astros SP J.A. Happ will work Monday, July 16, in the series opener against the San Diego Padres, followed by SP Jordan Lyles.
