Angels | Luis Jimenez developing into utility player

Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:47:44 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3B Luis Jimenez has impressed in the absence of 3B Alberto Callaspo (calf) and has impressed scouts. "He has been a good spark for them," one scout says. "I see him as an eventual super-utility type who can play all over. We will see how he reacts after the advance guys get a look at him see if he can respond after pitchers adjust for the first time."

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez should be owned in deeper AL leagues with Callaspo on the disabled list, and it's looking quite possible that Jimenez could stick around in a utility role when Callaspo comes back. Jimenez possesses nice power to all fields, but his batting average will drop in a larger sample size.
