New York Mets SP Chris Schwinden is unlikely to receive a third start in the rotation. The three realistic options to take the spot are Ps Jeremy Hefner, Garrett Olson and Miguel Batista. Hefner and Olson are both pitching at Class AAA. Ps Zack Wheeler, Matt Harvey and Jeurys Familia are not options.

The New York Mets optioned P Jenrry Mejia, P Armando Rodriguez, P Jeurys Familia, P Robert Carson, SS Wilmer Flores, OF Juan Lagares, 2B Reese Havens, OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis and P Josh Stinson to the minors. They also reassigned P Matt Harvey and OF Matt den Dekker to minor league camp.

New York Mets Ps Jeurys Familia and Matt Harvey, two of the top pitching prospects in the organization, are likely ticketed for Double-A Binghamton to start the 2012 season. Triple-A Buffalo manager Wally Backman told fans that he would fight to get the top pitching prospects for his team, however.
