A judge ordered Dallas Cowboys DT Joshua Brent for more alcohol monitoring as he awaits trial on intoxicated manslaughter charges. Prosecutors are saying he violated the terms of his release by setting off an alcohol monitoring device and failing to download data from it as required. They are saying he has 22 violations of the terms of his released in six months. A judge said he will not raise Brent's bond, but ordered extra monitoring.

Dallas Cowboys DT Joshua Brent will have a court hearing Friday, May 24, to determine if he violated the conditions of his bail. Brent's alcohol monitoring device detected alcohol, and the district attorney's office is seeking to have Brent's bond revoked because he didn't meet the conditions of his release. Brent's representatives are claiming he didn't use any alcoholic beverages, and they think he may have gotten alcohol into his system from using mouthwash or eating a certain kind of food.

Dallas Cowboys DT Joshua Brent, who is facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter in the death of a teammate, was driving somewhere between 110 and 134 miles per hour before he crashed, according to police documents. Police have said Brent's blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit. Brent could go on trial this summer.

Dallas Cowboys officials met with Mothers Against Drunk Driving representatives earlier this month after two players were involved in recent alcohol-related incidents that occurred in a span of 45 days. NT Joshua Brent flipped his car in an accident Dec. 8 which killed teammate LB Jerry Brown, and seven weeks later, Pro Bowl DL Jay Ratliff was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. "At the end of the day we're all accountable for our actions," owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "We certainly have to get better as an organization."

Brent is on the non-football injury list after being charged with intoxication manslaughter two weeks ago in the car crash that killed teammate LB Jerry Brown. The Cowboys and officials in the NFL's offices were unaware that Brent would be on the sideline in Week 15. Both the team and the league agree that it was not appropriate, sources said.
