Rockies | Chad Bettis good lately

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 09:08:48 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in his last two starts against the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres. He will face the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: The Pirates are a different beast than the M's and Padres, but after clinching a playoff spot last night they could rest a lot of their regulars Thursday. Still, Bettis ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a deep sleeper for your second pitching slot on FantasyScore. He owns a 4.46 ERA and 1.39 WHIP on the season.

Giants | Buster Posey out Saturday

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 16:17:10 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not starting Saturday, Sept. 5, against the Colorado Rockies. Posey's replacement is C Hector Sanchez, who will bat seventh against Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: Although the Giants said they might rest some starters periodically, it's a surprise to see Posey ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) seated with a .520 batting average in the past week. That's a risk for a hot hitter to sit down, even for a day.

Giants | Brandon Belt out Saturday

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 16:11:40 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (illness) is not in the starting lineup Saturday, Sept. 5, against the Colorado Rockies. 1B Nick Noonan will bat eighth against Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: Belt ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) likely may have been out with the Rockies throwing a righty in Bettis, but Belt suffered stomach pains earlier in the day and was scratched. Noonan carries no FantasyScore value.

Braves | Cameron Maybin not batting Tuesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 12:32:42 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Cameron Maybin is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the Colorado Rockies. OF Michael Bourn is in center field and has the eighth spot against Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: Maybin ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) hits .326-5-27 at Turner Field but only has one at-bat against Bettis for his career. This appears to be a standard night off and a chance to get Bourn ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) in the lineup. Bourn is hitting .125 in the last week, so don't take a chance he'll break out.

Braves | Nick Swisher hitting second

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 12:17:12 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Nick Swisher is batting second in the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: Swisher ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) batted sixth and fourth in games over the weekend, including a .750 average in the fourth position. Swisher is also hitting .625 in left field, and this may be behind the move to put him higher in the order. He may be worth a flier at this price.

Rockies | Chad Bettis starting Tuesday

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 15:56:38 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis (elbow) will be activated from the disabled list to start against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, Aug. 25. In a corresponding move, SP David Hale has been optioned to Class AAA Albuquerque.

Fantasy Tip: Bettis ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) hasn't started for Colorado since Sunday, July 19. And while the Braves are a team to target with your starting pitchers, Bettis remains a risky start. Hale ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) can be dropped in all seasonal formats.

Rockies | Chad Bettis flirts with no-hitter

Fri, 29 May 2015 20:16:06 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis came within five outs of a no-hitter, allowing two hits and striking out seven over eight scoreless innings in a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Bettis ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has improved in all four of his starts this season, and over his last two starts, he has allowed two runs over 16 1/3 innings while striking out 14. If h draws a solid matchup in his next start, he could be worth a flier as a low-priced option at FantasyScore.

Rockies | Chad Bettis starting Thursday

Wed, 13 May 2015 16:04:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis has been recalled from the minors and will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, May 14, with SP Eddie Butler going Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Bettis will stay in the Rockies rotation, but a strong start would certainly help his cause. He'll be dirt cheap at FantasyScore, but against a potent Dodgers lineup, there's no reason to take the huge risk.

Rockies | Chad Bettis back in mix for job

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 20:13:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis was optioned to the minor league camp March 22, but the team has called him back twice to pitch in Cactus League spring games. The team is scrambling for a fourth starter, so Bettis is suddenly back in consideration for the opening day roster.

Fantasy Tip: Bettis could still land a rotation job, but even if he does his value is limited to deeper NL-only fantasy leagues. For FantasyScore purposes, he could be a decent option when the matchup is favorable.
