Angels | Jefry Marte, Gregorio Petit both in lineup

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 14:24:31 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Jefry Marte is starting at first base and batting fifth, and 2B Gregorio Petit is starting in left field and batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Wednesday, July 27. Angels 1B Ji-Man Choi and OF Daniel Nava are not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: These are all low-end option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, so there is limited fantasy value here. Marte does have some power upside, and hitting behind the four best players on the team improves his value in daily contests.

Angels | Three sitting out for Angels

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 10:56:53 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Daniel Nava, 2B Johnny Giavotella and C Jett Bandy are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jacob Turner Sunday, July 17. C Geovany Soto will start at catcher and is batting sixth. 2B Gregorio Petit will start at second base and is batting eighth. OF Todd Cunningham will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Soto has gone 2-for-7 since returning from the disabled list and should be a decent option in two-catcher leagues. Soto has gone 3-for-11 in his limited playing time this month, but owners should be able to find better options. Cunningham is hitting only .067 this season and should be avoided in all leagues.

Angels | Several Halos regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 07:42:04 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Daniel Nava, 2B Johnny Giavotella and C Jett Bandy are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Sunday, July 10. INF Jefry Marte will bat fifth and play first base, 1B/OF Ji-Man Choi will start in left field and hit sixth, C Geovany Soto will start behind the plate and bat eighth and INF Gregorio Petit will hit ninth and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: Soto is making his first appearance since being activated from the disabled list due to a torn meniscus in his right knee and should be avoided in his first game back. Marte and Choi are both batting well below the Mendoza line this season and are not worthy of consideration for daily fantasy lineups, while Petit is nothing more than a source of emergency cap relief.

Angels | Daniel Nava dealing with pain

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:21:50 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Daniel Nava (knee) has had issues with tendinitis in his left knee, and he left the game early with pain Tuesday, July 5. "It's just playing on this turf," Nava said. "Every time I play on this turf, my knee doesn't like it. That's all. I'm trying to make it through this series."

Fantasy Tip: Nava is in an outfield platoon in left field for the Halos, and he doesn't move the fantasy needle much at all with a .232 average, one home run and six RBI this season. Leave him as outfield depth in AL-only leagues.

Angels | Three starters sitting for Angels

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 09:48:40 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Daniel Nava, 2B Johnny Giavotella and C Carlos Perez are not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Sean O'Sullivan Sunday, July 3. 3B Jefry Marte will start in left field and is batting sixth. SS Gregorio Petit will start at second base and is batting seventh, while C Jett Bandy will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Marte has only three hits in his last 20 at-bats and is not a strong fantasy option at this point. Petit is hitting .279 in limited playing time this season, but owners should be able to find better options for their lineups. Bandy has seven hits and two home runs in his last eight games and should have value in two-catcher leagues.
