Chicago Cubs SS Javier Baez and OF Albert Almora are unlikely to come up when rosters expand in September. Manager Dale Sveum doesn't see anyone being called up that isn't already on the 40-man roster. "The (Brian) Bogusevics and Sweeneys, and obviously (Donnie Murphy's) doing a heck of a job," Sveum said of the outlook for current roster players. "And yesterday's topic was getting (Anthony) Rizzo and (Starlin) Castro to where they go into the winter feeling a heck of a lot better than they did two days ago." OF Jorge Soler and 3B Mike Olt are both on the 40-man roster.
Fantasy Tip: Soler and Olt are your best options if you're speculating in NL-only leagues for the final month. They could contribute in deep mixed leagues, too, if they're given everyday playing time in the final month, but that's unlikely.

The Texas Rangers will acquire SP Matt Garza from the Chicago Cubs Monday, July 22, in exchange for 3B Mike Olt, P C.J. Edwards and a player to be named.
Fantasy Tip: Expect to pay a hefty price for Garza in AL-only leagues with this move. His fantasy value doesn't change drastically, although he could face a stretch of adjustment as he returns to the American League and another hitter-friendly environment.
Olt was one of Texas' top prospects that made his debut last season. His primary position is third base, but he can also play some first base and outfield. Given the Cubbies' lack of a solution at the hot corner, the inclusion of Olt in this deal makes perfect sense. He struggled with vision problems earlier this year, but he's a candidate to be brought up to Chicago later this year for an audition.

The Texas Rangers have discussed several prospects in trade talks with the Chicago Cubs about SP Matt Garza. SP Neil Ramirez and 3B Mike Olt have been discussed, while requests for SP Martin Perez were rebuffed. Ps Roman Mendez and C.J. Edwards are also possibilities.

The Texas Rangers don't plan on rushing OF Manny Ramirez to the majors while 1B Lance Berkman (hip) is sidelined. "I really don't know what to expect with Manny," general manager Jon Daniels said. "We don't have any set expectations. We're just going to let him play and evaluate it as it goes. Manny hasn't played at the big league level in a couple of years. We'll wait and see. We didn't sign him expecting him to be a knight in shining armor."
Fantasy Tip: Those in deep AL-only formats may want to stash Ramirez in case he's called up shortly after the All-Star break. But just know that there's no guarantee he makes it back to the bigs. Mike Olt is also down at Triple-A Round Rock, and they could very well choose to pass on Ramirez in favor of Olt.

Texas Rangers OF Manny Ramirez helped notice a flaw in 3B Mike Olt's swing at Triple-A Round Rock in the last few days. Olt has since fixed his mechanics and went 2-for-3 with two hard hit balls Sunday, July 7. Before that, Olt was in a 1-for-22 slump. "He saw that I was late and dropping my hands," said Olt, who made his debut with the Rangers last season playing in 16 games. "We went to the cages and I worked with him."
Fantasy Tip: It's been a frustrating season for Olt to this point, thanks to an early-season injury and vision problems. If he can pick it up with the stick in the second half, he's a realistic option to come up and help the Rangers as they push toward the playoffs. Stashing him in deep AL leagues isn't a bad idea.

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said the team not considered recalling 3B Mike Olt because he missed time because of vision problems and needs more at-bats to catch up.

The Texas Rangers placed 1B Mitch Moreland (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 1 hamstring strain Thursday, June 6, and recalled 1B Chris McGuiness from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. The team isn't guaranteeing that Moreland will return in 15 days. McGuiness was hitting .275 with a .382 on-base percentage, six home runs and 34 RBIs in 55 games with Round Rock. 1B Lance Berkman is playing first base and 2B Jeff Baker is the designated hitter Thursday.
Fantasy Tip: You should only be concerned with adding McGuiness in deep AL leagues, as he'll likely be a bat off the bench. Mike Olt was an option to come up, but he's recently recovered from vision problems and the Rangers probably had no intentions of rushing him back to the bigs.
If Ian Kinsler (rib) comes back from the DL before Moreland does, it'll allow the Rangers to keep Jurickson Profar in the lineup for a little longer, at least, if they want to move Kinsler to first base. Baker is the biggest winner for more at-bats in the short term. Add him in AL formats for depth.
