Tigers | Nick Castellanos leaves game

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 19:03:42 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos (finger) left the game Tuesday, Sept. 29, against the Detroit Tigers due to a right index finger contusion, according to the team.

Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game. Time is running out for that to occur if he doesn't come back immediately.

Tigers | Nick Castellanos not playing

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 09:14:05 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos is not in the lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader with the Chicago White Sox Monday, Sept. 21. 3B Jefry Marte is starting at the hot corner and is hitting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija has been very inconsistent this year, but Marte ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) remains an option to avoid for daily gamers. He's hitting .231 in just 65 at-bats this year with three home runs and nine RBI. He's a lotto ticket on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Nick Castellanos a late scratch

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 15:41:36 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos (groin) has been scratched from the game Wednesday, Sept. 16, with left groin tightness, according to the team. He is listed as day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Castellanos ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) from your lineups Wednesday. Jefry Marte ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) draws into the lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) Wednesday. Marte is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore contests. Check back for updates on when Castellanos will return to the lineup.

Tigers | Victor Martinez starts on bench

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 13:19:50 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez (illness) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 8. 3B Nick Castellanos is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez, while SS Andrew Romine draws a start at third base and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Romine ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a very weak shortstop option that shouldn't garner your attention. Castellanos ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is hitting only .218 (79-for-363) with 10 of his 15 home runs against right-handers. He's a sleeper pick against Ramirez, who has allowed at least four earned runs in three of his last six starts, which includes six homers allowed.

Tigers | Victor Martinez takes a seat

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 07:13:41 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez is out of the lineup Monday, Sept. 7, with 3B Nick Castellanos moving up to hit fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has a .360-5-20 line in 100 at-bats against lefties this year, and he has Drew Smyly on tap today. He's a solid midrange buy on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Nick Castellanos reaches the seats

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 21:24:25 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday, Aug. 26, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) strikes again, at least against left-handed pitching. He has four homers and 12 RBIs over his past nine games. He entered the game hitting .351 (33-for-94) with three doubles, two triples, four homers and 19 RBIs with a .963 OPS against southpaws, so keep that in mind when setting FantasyScore lineups in future games.

Tigers | Nick Castellanos not playing Sunday

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 10:09:20 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers Sunday, Aug. 16. 3B Jefry Marte will start at third base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Marte ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has picked up six hits in his last six games, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Tigers | Nick Castellanos out Tuesday

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 13:48:38 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 11. SS Andrew Romine is starting at the hot corner and hitting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: Ventura has really struggled in his second full season, but Romine ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is offensively challenged and doesn't have much power to speak of. He's an option to avoid in daily games.

Tigers | Three more hits for Nick Castellanos

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 19:34:11 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos went 3-for-4 with a triple during the Tigers' 5-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has slowly been turning his season around. He entered the game with a .276/.336/.517 slash line with 15 runs, seven home runs and 22 RBI over his past 33 games. He is a fringe option in deep formats, but there is potential for Castellanos to finish strong. FantasyScore players will want to note that there isn't a lot of value in his current cap hit.

Tigers | Nick Castellanos drives in three

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 18:39:17 -0700

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in a 5-1 win over the Boston Red Sox Saturday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has had three multi-hit games in his last five, logging three homers and eight RBI during the stretch. He could make a solid low-priced play at FantasyScore again Sunday against Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who brings a 4.64 ERA into the game.
