The Detroit Tigers released P David Pauley Monday, March 12. The team also assigned Cs Rob Brantly, Curt Casali, Patrick Leyland and James McCann, INFs Nick Castellanos and Hernan Perez and OFs Justin Henry and Avisail Garcia to minor league camp. Garcia will be shipped to Double-A Eerie and Perez will move to Single-A Lakeland.

Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said SP Jacob Turner is not on the trading block this winter. The team was reportedly dangling Turner in a deal to land Chicago Cubs SP Matt Garza. "We are not looking to trade Jacob Turner," Dombrowski said. "We love the guy. But I have received calls from clubs wondering if we would be interested in certain players because they have interest in our players. And he is a guy they ask about immediately because he is held in such high esteem." Turner will be seriously considered for the No. 5 rotation spot in spring training. Other teams have also inquired about 3B Nick Castellanos, C Rob Brantly, INFs Dixon Machado and Hernan Perez and OF Avisail Garcia.

The Detroit Tigers would reportedly be open to dealing SP Jacob Turner in a potential trade for Oakland Athletics SP Gio Gonzalez, according to sources. However, the Tigers have balked at the A's request to also include 3B Nick Castellanos and P Drew Smyly.
