Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker (foot) will need at least one rehab start and a re-evaluation before he will be activated from the disabled list, according to manager Scott Servais.
Fantasy Tip: Walker is an inconsistent hurler who checks out as a high-risk, high-reward option nightly. For the season, he has a 3.66 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 80 strikeouts through 86 innings. And while he should be owned in all formats, it's a fantasy headache trying to figure out whether he's worth starting whenever he takes the hill.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker (foot) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Wednesday, July 27.
Fantasy Tip: Walker probably will make at least rehab start before he returns and is a few weeks away from joining the rotation. Owners should continue to hold onto Walker because he currently has a 3.66 ERA and did have some solid starts when he was healthy.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker (foot) is scheduled to play catch the next two days and then move to a bullpen session in Toronto. He will need a rehab start before returning. He has been thinking more about offseason surgery, and the recovery time would be four months. Surgery would include an incision on the inside of his foot to shave the bone down.
Fantasy Tip: Walker has all the tools to be a top-line fantasy starter, but his foot injury has likely contributed to a very up-and-down 2016 season. He's sporting a 3.66 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and is striking out a career-high 8.4 hitters per nine innings. For his potential alone, he's worth stashing everywhere, but until his foot is surgically fixed there's plenty of risk involved.
