Mets | Noah Syndergaard optioned to minors

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 13:18:35 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard was sent to minor league camp Friday, March 20.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't a surprise, as it was speculated the top prospect would begin the season at Class AAA. His huge strikeout potential makes him a viable stash candidate in NL-only formats, and he should be on your scout list in deep mixed formats. He would warrant a speculative add in the majority of leagues if recalled to the Mets.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard won't join rotation

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 15:43:13 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard will be break camp in the starting rotation, according to head coach Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard needs more fine-tuning at Class AAA, but he remains a high-end prospect with huge strikeout potential. He is a potential stash candidate in NL-only leagues, and a player to watch closely in the minors. He would warrant a speculative add in the majority of leagues if recalled to the Mets.

Mets | Dillon Gee likely to enter rotation

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 10:55:02 -0700

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee is expected to start the year in the starting rotation after the injury to SP Zack Wheeler (elbow). Gee was a longtime starter that was going to be banished to the bullpen for the start of 2015. However, the Mets have several pitching prospects in SPs Noah Syndergaard, Steven Matz and Rafael Montero that are close to the rotation and may be considered early in the season.

Fantasy Tip: Gee is the favorite to start the year in the rotation, but depending on how the prospects are looking, he may be bumped back to the bullpen in short order. That makes him not worthy of a selection in standard mixed leagues. However, he could make a difference early in the year in NL-only formats. Keep him in mind there.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard headed for minors

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 13:26:13 -0800

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard is expected to begin the season in the minor leagues to receive more seasoning.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard started 26 games at Class AAA where he posted underwhelming ratios (4.60 ERA, 1.48 WHIP), but an impressive 9.8 K/9 mark. He is a top prospect, but the organization is unlikely to rush him. He is a stash candidate in cavernous mixed and NL-only formats, but can be ignored in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard unlikely to come up

Mon, 11 Aug 2014 09:11:29 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard isn't expected to make his major league debut this year, but the team hasn't officially determined whether he'll come up in 2014, according to a team insider. Triple-A Las Vegas will be heading to the playoffs again this year, and Syndergaard might not have any innings left after that. He enters his start Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 108 innings this year, so he likely has roughly 40 innings left on the year after throwing a total of 118 2/3 innings in 2013.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that we'll see Syndergaard this year, and if he does come up, it won't make any impact for fantasy managers in single-year formats. The only place you should have this guy on a roster is in keeper and dynasty formats.

Sun, 10 Aug 2014 10:20:19 -0700

New York Mets RP Carlos Torres could make a spot start against the Washington Nationals Tuesday, Aug. 12, in place of injured SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder). If deGrom needs to be placed on the disabled list, the team could promote Noah Syndergaard or Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Mets | Won't trade Noah Syndergaard

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 13:40:28 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard isn't likely to be included in any deal the club may make this week.

Fantasy Tip: As David Lennon notes, the Metropolitans could change their minds, but they're not aiming to part with their top pitching prospect. Good news for his NL-only dynasty stock holders.
