Mets | Noah Syndergaard sitting out next start

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:16:10 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard will not make his next scheduled start Saturday, Sept. 5. SP Steven Matz (lat) will start against the Miami Marlins Saturday. Syndergaard is being skipped in an effort to conserve his innings.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets are hoping to roll with a six-man rotation through September to keep their young hurlers healthy and fresh down the stretch. Matz ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) will carry slight risk in his first start back, but it will be tough to fade him against the offensively limited Marlins. Continue to hold Syndergaard ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) in all formats, as he'll return to the hill next week.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard finally wins on road

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 22:50:02 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard allowed four runs - two earned - and four hits with two walks and nine strikeouts over five innings in a win Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Syndergaard entered 0-5 with a 5.05 ERA in nine starts on the road.

Fantasy Tip: If Syndergaard ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) can start performing on the road like he has at home, look out. He is 8-1 with a 1.82 ERA at home. FantasyScore players need to remember the latter.

Phillies | Cameron Rupp out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 12:37:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the New York Mets. C Carlos Ruiz is batting eighth against Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Rupp ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has slowly gained more playing time over Ruiz, thanks mainly to a .438 batting average in the last week and a .249-6-17 season line. Rupp has played the past four days, so this looks like a normal night off to get Ruiz ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) some time. Ruiz has a .198 average at Citizens Bank Park, but he is hitting .375 in the last week.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard won't be skipped soon

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 13:33:50 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard will not have a home start skipped, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets are looking to conserve innings for their young starters, but with Syndergaard's ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) dominance at home, New York will wait for a chance to rest him during a road series. It'll likely be in early September. Through nine starts at Citi Field, the rookie owns a 7-1 record with a 1.82 ERA, a 0.81 WHIP and a 9.1 K/9. Fantasy owners can start him with confidence when he takes the mound at home.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard to be skipped soon

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:51:42 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard will have one of his starts skipped soon, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets are looking for ways to limit the innings of their young pitchers down the stretch, and that will be continued when they go to a six-man rotation in September when Steven Matz returns from the DL. As a result, Syndergaard's ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) fantasy value in traditional leagues takes a hit. However, he could be more effective when he does pitch on more rest.

Mets | NY starters to be rested down the stretch

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 10:14:53 -0700

New York Mets starting pitchers will be given more rest in September with the return of SP Steven Matz (lat) after rosters expand on September 1. RP Logan Verrett will likely receive a spot start or two in September to allow one of the team's marquee starters to be skipped. Matz has made one rehab start for Class A St. Lucie. SP Matt Harvey has tossed 154 innings and is on pace for roughly 15 or so more than the team would like. SP Noah Syndergaard is at 135 1/3 innings between the majors and minors, and he tossed 138 innings last season. There's less urgency in shaving innings off of SP Jacob deGrom's workload. He's at 146 2/3 innings after throwing 178 2/3 innings last season.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets will go with a six-man rotation when Matz ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) returns from the DL. Less starts and less innings down the stretch will slightly devalue the Mets' marquee starters for their fantasy owners.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard improves home record

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 15:07:25 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard improved his record at Citi Field this year to 7-1 with his win over the Colorado Rockies Thursday, Aug. 13. Syndergaard didn't allow a hit after the second inning and retired 14 of his final 15 batters. He allowed four hits and three runs while walking two and striking out five in seven innings.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is an intriguing starter on FantasyScore every time he toes the rubber, but even more so when he's pitching at home. The Mets' improved offense only helps his cause and his fantasy owners.

Mets | NY to use spot starter soon

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 17:17:53 -0700

The New York Mets tentatively plan to use a spot starter on their next road trip, and Ps Dillon Gee and Logan Verrett are the primary candidates to receive a start. The Mets are looking for ways to slow the increasing innings totals for young SPs Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: You can ignore Gee and Verrett in all formats, since they're likely to only have the one start. This is just another reminder that the Mets' young starters will have one less start down the stretch. It also looks plausible that they'll go back to a six-man rotation when Steven Matz (lat) is ready to return around the beginning of September.

Mets | Rough night for Noah Syndergaard

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 19:45:30 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard allowed five runs on eight hits over four innings in a no-decision against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) had posted a 1.80 ERA over his previous nine starts, so consider Saturday's outing a blip on the radar for now. Continue to use him at FantasyScore whenever he draws a decent matchup.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard pitches well

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:31:47 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard took a perfect game into the seventh inning Tuesday, July 28, against the San Diego Padres, and he ended up throwing eight scoreless innings in the win. He allowed three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is 0-4 with a 4.34 ERA in seven road outings with the opposition hitting .268 against him. However, he is 5-1 with a 1.46 ERA in seven home starts with 51 strikeouts over 49 1/3 innings at home. FantasyScore players will be pleased to see he is home again Sunday against Washington, so take advantage.
