Mets | Noah Syndergaard has solid outing

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:10:33 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, May 27. He allowed six hits during the game while striking out six batters. Syndergaard also hit his first career home run during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has pitched well in all four of his starts since being recalled from the minor leagues. Syndergaard is scheduled to face the San Diego Padres in his next start and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Mets | NY going to six-man rotation

Wed, 27 May 2015 12:15:04 -0700

The New York Mets will use a six-man pitching rotation throughout early to mid-August once SP Dillon Gee is added to the rotation. Gee will join SPs Jacob deGrom, Bartolo Colon, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and Jon Niese. The idea is to shave about 30 innings per pitcher and prevent so many arms from going over 200 innings in one season.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't a surprise. With such young arms as Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap), deGrom ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) and Syndergaard ($6,000, 12.0% of cap), the Mets are interested in preserving the health of pitchers. No pitcher will likely get two starts in a week, which could hurt in yearly leagues, but you will still get one start a week in FantasyScore.

Mets | Six-man rotation ahead for the Mets

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:41:17 -0700

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (groin) will return to the starting rotation and SP Noah Syndergaard is remaining in the mix, too, as the Mets will utilize a six-man rotation for the foreseeable future. "We don't really know right now how long that could go," manager Terry Collins said. "We've got a lot of managing to do of workloads. A lot of it. When you add Noah to deGrom to Harvey, there's a lot of maneuvering to be done. ... We're trying to do the best we can to keep from having to shut guys down. That's kind of where we're at right now."

Fantasy Tip: This is a huge plus for Syndergaard's ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) fantasy value, as he has a 3.18 ERA and 11 strikeouts through his first 11 1/3 innings. Switching to a six-man rotation is also a means to lessen the load on Matt Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap), Jacob deGrom ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) and Snydergaard, and keep them healthy throughout the season. Gee is a spot start option in the majority of formats, including FantasyScore, but he doesn't warrant ownership outside of deep mixed and NL-only legaues.

Mets | Dillon Gee returning soon

Fri, 22 May 2015 11:13:42 -0700

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (groin) is expected to return to the team's rotation shortly, meaning SP Noah Syndergaard may just have his start against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, May 22, to convince the club to stay in the majors.

Fantasy Tip: Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could be trade bait before he comes off the DL. The rookie Syndergaard ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has lived up to his billing so far in two starts for the Mets, giving up just four earned runs in 11 1/3 innings while striking out 11. Syndergaard has much more upside, clearly, and he makes for a fine FantasyScore play against the weak-hitting Bucs Friday.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard won't go to 'pen

Tue, 19 May 2015 15:51:16 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard will not be moved to the bullpen once SP Dillon Gee (groin) returns from the disabled list, according to general manager Sandy Alderson Tuesday, May 19. Gee is scheduled to make his final rehab start Thursday, May 21, with Syndergaard scheduled for his third major league start Friday. The Mets will then decide whether to assign Gee to a bullpen role or to send Syndergaard back to Class AAA Las Vegas.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) picked up his first career win Sunday, May 17, against the Milwaukee Brewers, by allowing just three hits and one run across six innings. Syndergaard has been operating with a high strikeout rate, but he has also struggled with issuing walks. Even if Syndergaard is demoted, he'll be worth stashing in deeper leagues or NL-only leagues, as he will likely see more time in the majors this season.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard entering Mets rotation

Fri, 08 May 2015 16:06:54 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard will be called up to make his major league debut against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, May 12, with SP Dillon Gee (groin) going on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard, 22, went 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with a K/9 of 10.3 in five starts for Triple-A Las Vegas, earning the promotion over Steven Matz because of his experience. Syndergaard should be immediately added in all leagues where he's available, as he could stick in the rotation if he impresses with Gee on the DL. Expect him to be a cheap risk/reward option at FantasyScore Tuesday against a Cubs lineup that can strike out in bunches.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard continues to shine

Mon, 04 May 2015 10:47:26 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard threw seven shutout innings for his second straight start for Triple-A Las Vegas Saturday, May 2, and he is now 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. Manager Terry Collins said it won't be his decision as to when Syndergaard is promoted to the majors.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard is pitching very well to begin the year, but unfortunately the Mets don't really have any openings in their starting rotation with Dillon Gee pitching well. Syndergaard could be the first pitcher promoted if a spot opens up, but New York is in no position to rush anything. Syndergaard deserves to be owned in NL-only leagues and stashed.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard spins another gem

Sun, 03 May 2015 05:30:32 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard pitched seven scoreless innings for Triple-A Las Vegas Saturday, May 2. He allowed four hits and two walks while striking out 10 during his 100-pitch effort.

Fantasy Tip: It was his second consecutive scoreless seven-inning outing, as Syndergaard is now at 14 consecutive scoreless innings. Dillon Gee's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) the only man standing in his way of locking down a starting rotation spot, and with the Mets in first place in the National League East, adding their top pitching prospect to the rotation may happen sooner than later. A speculative add in deep mixed leagues isn't out of the question, and Syndergaard is worth stashing in all cavernous mixed and NL-only formats.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard returns with a bang

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 08:19:58 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard (illness) allowed two hits and fanned nine in seven shutout innings at Triple-A Las Vegas Monday, April 27, after a bout with food poisoning.

Fantasy Tip: He could come up at any time, and he should be owned in deeper formats. You can start grabbing him in traditional leagues as well.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard had food poisoning

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 14:15:03 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard (illness) suffered food poisoning and needed intravenous fluids and was scratched from his start with Triple-A Las Vegas Friday, April 24, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. Syndergaard has allowed five runs (four earned) and nine hits while walking six in 7 2/3 innings over two minor league starts so far.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard is the Mets' top pitching prospect in the minors. Now that he's gotten off to a slow start due to several setbacks in 2015, it may be a while before we see him up in the bigs and in the starting rotation. Syndergaard deserves to be stashed in deep NL-only leagues, though.
