Mets | Noah Syndergaard whiffs nine

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 22:02:14 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard allowed three earned runs, seven hits and no walks with nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, April 25, against the Cincinnati Reds. Afterwards he said he did not feel comfortable with his delivery. "You're going to go out there every once in a while and you're not going to have your best stuff," Syndergaard said. Pitching coach Dan Warthen noted Syndergaard was working at a much slower pace than usual in the earlier innings.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard has posted a quality start in each of his four outings while recording at least eight strikeouts in each game. He is a fantasy stud across all formats, and a DFS play regardless of salary.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard's slider devastating

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 15:20:17 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard's slider, which he didn't start throwing until Sept. 12 last year, has become one of the toughest pitches to hit in baseball. He averages 92-93 mph on his slider, and nobody else in baseball cracks 90 mph with their slider. Opponents are hitting only .087 against his slider with no extra-base hits and 13 strikeouts in 23 at-bats that ended with the pitch. Syndergaard is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA and leads baseball with 29 strikeouts in three starts.

Fantasy Tip: Thor's hammer is his slider. It's his new out pitch and has become increasingly effective in generating swings and misses. Syndergaard is the best pitcher in baseball right now and is a legitimate SP1 in fantasy.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard dominates Philly

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 20:58:49 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard allowed just one earned run, five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings in a win Monday, April 18, against the Philadelphia Phillies. He hit 100 mph or more on the radar gun in 17 of his 94 pitches.

Fantasy Tip: Thor dropped his ERA to 0.90 on the season, throwing 64 of his 94 pitches for strikes. He has three quality starts in three outings with at least eight strikeouts in each outing. He has been fantasy gold so far, and he'll face the Atlanta Braves on the road next weekend in another favorable matchup.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard owning lefties

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 08:21:12 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard has struck out 14 of 26 left-handers he has faced this season.

Fantasy Tip: Thor is a legit SP1 option, especially against the Philadelphia Phillies tonight.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard drops the hammer on KC

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 16:14:55 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard threw six scoreless innings while striking out nine in a win over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, April 5. He gave up three hits and walked one in 92 pitches. All six of his strikeouts came via the slider after he had just 11 total K's with the pitch last year.

Fantasy Tip: The Royals were the toughest team to strike out last year, so this just goes to show the kind of upside that Thor has as a high-end No. 2 fantasy starter. Also, the fact that he is getting more swings and misses with his slider is a good sign that he's still improving.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard cruising this spring

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 12:06:20 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard has struck out 19 batters with a single walk through 17 2/3 innings during spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Snydergaard has the upside to be a fantasy ace, but he can be acquired as a No. 2 starter in most mixed leagues, which makes him an excellent option in the early middle rounds. He posted a 3.24 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and a 10.0 K/9 through 150 innings as a rookie in 2015.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard sharp again

Sun, 20 Mar 2016 16:00:03 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard yielded two runs (one earned) and fanned five over as many innings on Sunday, March 20.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard has a 1.54 ERA after 11 2/3 spring innings and could emerge as a fantasy ace as soon as this season, although owners would be wise to treat him as a high-upside second starter until he proves he can do it over a full season. He's a good value in the sixth round of most leagues.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard cruises through outing

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 14:51:15 -0800

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard allowed one hit through three innings during his spring training outing Thursday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard returned a 3.24 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and a 10.0 K/9 through 150 innings in his rookie season, and he is poised to build on the excellent results in 2016. He has the potential to be a fantasy ace as early as this season, but he checks out a lot better as your No. 2 starter.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard talks TJ avoidence

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 15:22:41 -0800

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard prides himself on proper nutrition, strength and conditioning techniques, and despite having thought about Tommy John surgery a lot, trusts himself to put his body in the right situations to perform at a healthy level.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard arrived as advertised in his rookie season with a 3.24 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and a 10.0 K/9, and he is an emerging ace in both the real and virtual game. However, he is a heavily inked name leading into the 2016 season, and you'll want to be careful not to overvalue him and reach too early in drafts. He'll look a lot better as your No. 2 starter than as your fantasy ace.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard learning cutter

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 10:06:06 -0800

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard is learning a "cutter" this spring. The new pitch is neither a traditional cut fastball nor a slider grip, however.

Fantasy Tip: This flame-throwing youngster has all the stuff to be a fantasy ace in years to come, but until he repeats his dominance in another season, he's a high-end second fantasy starter.
