Dodgers | Zach Lee back in minors

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 09:09:58 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee was optioned back to the minors when OF Carl Crawford (back) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 26.

Fantasy Tip: Lee didn't even throw a single pitch in the big leagues when he was up and in the bullpen for the Dodgers. He's one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects, though, so keep an eye on him in NL-only and dynasty formats. In three starts for Class AAA Oklahoma City this year, he is 3-0 with a 1.56 ERA and 14 K's in 17 1/3 innings.

Dodgers | Zach Lee to pitch in bullpen

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:33:42 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee was recalled from the minor leagues Saturday, April 23, and he will pitch out of the bullpen. RP Yimi Garcia (biceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right biceps in a corresponding move. Lee might not be in L.A. long, though, and he doesn't figure to start any games.

Fantasy Tip: Lee is one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects, but since he'll be in the bullpen and is unlikely to stay up for long, he has almost zero fantasy value unless you're stashing him in a keeper league.

Dodgers | Two Dodgers for No. 5 spot

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 06:10:13 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias or SP Ross Stripling will be the team's No. 5 starter as manager Dave Roberts said SP Zach Lee is out of the competition.

Fantasy Tip: Frias and Stripling are NL-only depth options at this point.

Dodgers | Three LAD pitchers vying for No. 5 spot

Sun, 27 Mar 2016 07:35:54 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Zach Lee and Carlos Frias are considered to be the two primary candidates to win the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation, with SP Ross Stripling also likely to be in the running for the job.

Fantasy Tip: As far as owners in NL-only and dynasty leagues are concerned, Lee has the most potential to succeed in this role due to his four-pitch repertoire and ability to induce ground balls. However, none of these pitchers are worth drafting in most fantasy formats because their time in the rotation would likely be short-lived, with five starters (Brett Anderson, Mike Bolsinger, Brandon McCarthy, Frankie Montas and Hyun-Jin Ryu) currently battling injuries.

Dodgers | Zach Lee ready if needed

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 20:58:50 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee would likely work as the fifth starter if SP Mike Bolsinger (side) is not ready for the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Lee starts a game or two to start the regular season he isn't worth drafting in most fantasy formats as his appeal is expected to be short-term.

Dodgers | Zach Lee sent to minors

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 09:19:19 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee was sent to minor league camp Sunday, March 20.

Fantasy Tip: Lee was competing for a rotation spot this spring after injuries to L.A.'s rotation after he went 13-6 with a 2.63 ERA in the minors last season. He's not a big strikeout guy, but he has a nice four-pitch mix and is around the plate. Lee is a ground-ball pitcher that could thrive in L.A. when given the chance. Watch out for him in dynasty and NL leagues if he comes up this year.

Dodgers | Julio Urias, Zach Lee competing

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 18:20:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Julio Urias and Zach Lee are "in the conversation" for the fifth spot in the starting rotation, according to manager Dave Roberts. Lee went five innings and surrendered three runs, while Urias recorded one inning, yielding three runs on Tuesday, March 15.

Fantasy Tip: It's a wide-open competition for that last slot on the pitching staff, given the number of injuries that have hit the Dodgers. Alex Wood has the inside track, though he just experienced a bout of forearm tightness that could pave the way for someone else to step up. It probably won't be Urias or Lee, who both should start the year in the minors. Mike Bolsinger would probably be the favorite if Wood has to miss any time, but he's a very unappealing option in most fantasy leagues.

Dodgers | Zach Lee looking good

Fri, 11 Mar 2016 11:31:51 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee is showing the club good things in spring training and has improved his breaking pitches. He's in the mix with SPs Brandon Beachy and Mike Bolsinger for the final rotation spot.

Fantasy Tip: Lee, one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects behind Julio Urias, went 13-6 with a 2.63 ERA in three minor league stops last year while striking out 85 in 123 1/3 innings. A low strikeout rate limits his long-term potential in the bigs, but improved control and a ground-ball profile would make him attractive in deep mixed and NL-only leagues if he wins a spot.

Dodgers | Zach Lee a rotation candidate

Fri, 04 Mar 2016 09:20:07 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee is competing for a chance to win a spot in the starting rotation as the No. 5 pitcher now that SP Brett Anderson (back) is injured. Lee will start the spring game Sunday, March 6.

Fantasy Tip: The right-handed Lee went 13-6 with a 2.63 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 123 1/3 innings in three minor league stops in 2015. One of L.A's top pitching prospects, Lee features a good command of all his pitches and has a penchant for keeping the ball on the ground. However, he's not a true strikeout pitcher, which will limit his fantasy upside. For now, he's a watch list guy in dynasty formats.
