The Colorado Rockies are inviting 24 non-roster players to spring camp next week, including seven pitchers with Major League Baseball experience. Colorado Rockies OF Kyle Parker (ribs) suffered broken ribs Friday, Dec. 31, while playing quarterback for the Clemson Tigers, according to MLB.com's Sunil Joshi.

The Colorado Rockies signed first-round pick OF Kyle Parker to a deal with a $1.4 million signing bonus, The Denver Post's Jim Armstrong reports. Parker was seeking more than $2 million to give up his football career at Clemson, where he is the starting quarterback. He will be allowed to continue playing football. The Rockies, meanwhile, saved a chunk of money and, according to a source, will be able to recoup a portion of the signing bonus if Parker gets hurt on the football field.

Colorado Rockies first-round pick OF Kyle Parker will return to Clemson to play football after failing to reach a baseball-only contract with the Rockies, Baseball America reports. The Rockies have until Aug. 16 to sign him.

Colorado Rockies OF Kyle Parker, the team's first-round draft pick, is expected to decide in roughly two weeks on whether he will sign with the team or play football at the University of Clemson, according to The Denver Post's Troy E. Renck. Parker is likely to demand a deal well over $1.3 million.
