San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated that the team definitely does not plan to rush any of their young players in the big leagues next season. That means that SP Eric Surkamp, C Hector Sanchez and OG Gary Brown are unlikely to open the season in the majors.

San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabean said he doesn't want to lose P Zack Wheeler, OF Gary Brown or 1B Brandon Belt in a deal to land New York Mets OF Carlos Beltran, but the thinking is that the Giants won't have to. OF Francisco Peguero could be included in some sort of package. The Mets may also covet RP Dan Runzler.

The San Francisco Giants are very close to acquiring New York Mets OF Carlos Beltran, and a deal could be finalized as soon as Wednesday, July 27, but reports indicated that nothing is done and a deal could center around Giants P Zack Wheeler or OF Gary Brown. Beltran has indicated that he would waive his no-trade clause to play in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Giants made their first round of roster cuts Monday, March 14, reports Chris Haft, of MLB.com. The team optioned SS Ehire Adrianza, RP Jose Casilla, 3B Conor Gillaspie, RP Alex Hinshaw, OF Thomas Neal, OF Francisco Peguero, P Henry Sosa and SP Clayton Tanner to the minors. The team also reassigned OF Gary Brown, SS Brandon Crawford, SS Charlie Culberson, OF Terry Evans, RP Waldis Joaquin, C Tommy Joseph, SS Nick Noonan, OF Juan Perez, P Wilmin Rodriguez, C Hector Sanchez, P Jason Stoffel, P Ryan Verdugo and P Matt Yourkin to the minor league camp.

The San Francisco Giants have invited 22 players to spring training, according to MLB.com's Chris Haft. Among those earning invites are 1B Brandon Belt, SS Brandon Crawford, 2B Charlie Culberson, OF Gary Brown, C Tommy Joseph, RP Guillermo Mota. Invites with majors experience include P's Casey Daigle, Waldis Joaquin, Shane Loux and Ryan Vogelsong, C Chris Stewart and IF Brad Eldred.
