White Sox | Chris Sale hit by liner

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 20:02:04 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale (leg) was hit by a line drive in the leg against the Boston Red Sox Thursday, July 30. He allowed seven runs on 12 hits and struck out seven over five innings in a loss, but he said being hit was not a factor in his performance.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) wasn't having his best outing, but things really went south after he was hit by the liner. Don't read too much into his poor performance. Sale still fanned seven in five innings, and he remains of the top options at FantasyScore.

White Sox | Poor showing from Chris Sale

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 18:01:20 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale allowed four runs on a season-high 11 hits and struck out six over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Kansas City Royals Sunday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($9,700, 19.4% of cap) had a rough night against one of the better offenses in the game, but his overall numbers remain excellent, and his strikeout potential makes him worth considering at FantasyScore against almost any opponent.

White Sox | Chris Sale is a strikeout machine

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 21:47:11 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale heads into the second half with an 11.84 K/9 (strikeouts to nine innings) ratio, while posting 6.83 strikeouts to walks and a 0.95 WHIP.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($9,700; or 19.4% of cap) has a steep price tag for FantasyScore purposes, but he has been worth every penny lately. He will take the ball Sunday, July 19, against Kansas City for his first start of the second half.

White Sox | Skipper prefers Chris Sale to rest

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 22:13:57 -0700

Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Tuesday, July 14, he would prefer SP Chris Sale not pitch in the All-Star Game Tuesday, July 14, after throwing 115 pitches against the Chicago Cubs Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners would also like to see Sale get a rest rather than working extra, although it is likely if he does see action it would only be an inning at the most, or in other words not terribly taxing.

White Sox | Chris Sale dazzles again

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 17:33:56 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale allowed one run on six hits and struck out 10 in a win over the Chicago Cubs Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: One start after having his streak of double-digit strike out games snapped, Sale ($9,700, 19.4% of cap) was back on track. He has a 2.72 ERA and 157 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings this year, and he is a must-start option at FantasyScore whenever he takes the mound.

Indians | Corey Kluber picks up win

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 21:05:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber allowed five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a win Tuesday, July 7, against the Houston Astros. He moved past Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale for the major league lead in strikeouts with 148.

Fantasy Tip: Klubot ($8,500; or 17.0% of cap) has a poor 4-9 record, but he has a respectable 3.45 ERA which speaks to the lack of run support he has received. FantasyScore players will still find a solid value in Kluber.

White Sox | Streak over for Chris Sale

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 20:52:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale picked up a complete game victory against the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing just two runs and six hits with no walks and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Sale's ($9,700; or 19.4% of cap) double-digit strikeout streak was snapped at eight starts, but he was more than good for FantasyScore owners. The All-Star continues to steam right along, and is a great buy even at this high price. Pitching wins in DFS, especially dominant pitching.

White Sox | Chris Sale pushed back to Monday

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 15:22:56 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale will make his next start against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: This has been talked about as a means to provide Sale ($9,700, 19.4% of cap) extra rest after his heavy workload recently. He has thrown 76 innings over his past 10 starts with a 1.78 ERA and 115 strikeouts and been as good as any pitcher in baseball. Toronto will be a tough task, but it is difficult to fade Sale at FantasyScore in his current form.

White Sox | Chris Sale might be pushed back

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:48:36 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale might have his next start pushed back to provide extra rest due to his recent workload. SP Carlos Rodon would start against the Baltimore Orioles Sunday, July 5, in that case.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($9,700, 19.4% of cap) has thrown 76 innings over his past 10 starts with a 1.78 ERA and 115 strikeouts. He has been as good as any pitcher in baseball, so being cautious shouldn't concern fantasy owners. Check back for an official announcement on the rotation plans for Chicago.

White Sox | Chris Sale ties strikeout record

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 22:29:03 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale struck out 12 batters over eight innings in a no-decision Tuesday, June 30, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He tied a major league record by striking out 10 in at least eight consecutive starts, tying former SP Pedro Martinez.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($9.700; or 19.4% of cap) has a high price tag, but he has been a great play for FantasyScore players. Eventually his double-digit strikeouts streak will end, but ride that wave until it crashes.
