Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal hitting cleanup

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 15:45:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal will hit fourth in the order in Game 2 of the doubleheader Tuesday, June 2, against the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) struck out in his lone plate appearance in Game 1. A switch-hitter, Grandal fares nearly equally well against lefties and righties and with an ISO of .193 on the season, he'll be an excellent option at Coors Field when he goes up against RHP David Hale.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes won't be available on FantasyScore to use as a deep sleeper in Game 1 of the doubleheader.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal resting vs. Rockies

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 13:59:53 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 1. C A.J. Ellis is starting and hitting eighth in the batting order against Colorado Rockies SP Kyle Kendrick.

Fantasy Tip: Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) typically starts with Clayton Kershaw on the mound, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. Despite hitting only .137 (7-for-51) on the year, Ellis could make for a nice sleeper pick because he'll be hitting at Coors Field against a pitcher that has struggled most of the year.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal homers in first game back

Sun, 31 May 2015 03:53:35 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal, who was playing in his first game back since going on the 7-day DL with a concussion, hit a three-run homer as the Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-1, on Saturday, May 30.

Fantasy Tip: So much for Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) having any weakness or vulnerability. He won't be invincible overnight, but the home run came off Cardinals starter Michael Wacha. Keep an eye on matchups, but otherwise Grandal is a safe bet.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal to be activated

Fri, 29 May 2015 21:50:56 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (concussion) will be activated from the 7-day concussion disabled list Saturday, May 30, manager Don Mattingly said Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) was on a tear prior to being sidelined, but it isnít a bad idea to give him a game to make sure he has his timing down before trusting him at FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal optimistic for Saturday

Fri, 29 May 2015 14:37:11 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (concussion) said he expects to be ready to be activated from the 7-day concussion disabled list Saturday, May 30.

Fantasy Tip: It wouldn't be out of the question to allow Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) a game to regain his feel at the dish before returning him to your fantasy lineups, especially in FantasyScore contests. Over the 15 games prior to the injury, Grandal was scorching hot and sporting a 20-for-47 stretch with seven runs, three home runs, 15 RBI and a .426/.509/.702 slash line. He should be owned in all formats.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal nearing return

Tue, 26 May 2015 07:16:37 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (head) should return from his stint on the 7-day disabled list Saturday, May 30, against the St. Louis Cardinals, if everything goes well in his three minor league rehab games.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) was hitting well enough before the injury to warrant regular fantasy play. Provided he looks fine during his rehab stint, consider him a safe play in two-catcher leagues and a streamer for daily gamers.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal still sitting

Mon, 25 May 2015 14:34:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (face) is still out of the lineup Monday, May 25, against the Atlanta Braves. C A.J. Ellis will start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal should be returning in the near future. He may have been given the day off since the Dodgers have a day game. Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has played sparingly this year and still has zero homeruns and only one RBI. He isn't worth starting on FantasyScore even at his dirt cheap price.

Sat, 23 May 2015 14:56:32 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (concussion) was placed on the 7-day concussion list. C Austin Barnes was recalled from AAA Oklahoma City to fill the spot on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should be sidelined for the next week or until he proves his concussion symptoms have disappeared.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal injured

Sat, 23 May 2015 00:24:26 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal (face) left the game Friday, May 22, against the San Diego Padres when he was struck in his catcher's mask by a bat and a foul ball. C A.J. Ellis replaced him. Grandal will not play Saturday, May 23, but that was already a scheduled day off for him.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will likely be all right, but take him out of your lineup for a couple days to be on the safe side. Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) won't offer much fantasy value to you.
