San Diego Padres C Yasmani Grandal (hamstring) is set to come off the disabled list with Triple-A Tucson this weekend. Grandal was dealing with a typical hamstring tweak.

Also on the list in order are Devin Mesoraco (Reds), Travis d'Arnaud (Blue Jays), Gary Sanchez (Yankees), Wilin Rosario (Rockies), Yasmani Grandal (Padres), Christian Bethancourt (Braves), Ryan Lavarnway (Red Sox), Sebastian Valle (Phillies) and Jorge Alfaro (Rangers).

Reds | Mat Latos trade update

Updating a previous report, the Cincinnati Reds have acquired SP Mat Latos from the San Diego Padres for SP Edinson Volquez, P Brad Boxberger, OF Yonder Alonso and C Yasmani Grandal.

Fantasy Tip: Latos' skills are still worth buying, but without the comforts of pitching in PETCO Park, he loses a little bit of luster. At least he has a competent offense backing him now. He's closer to a No. 2 mixed starting pitcher than a fantasy ace, but he could fly as one and not yield a big drop-off. Volquez's move to San Diego makes it more attractive to take a chance on his shaky control straightening out to match his enticing dominance, which would make him a valuable backend mixed SP. Alonso, meanwhile, has a clearer path for playing time but still might have to worry about Anthony Rizzo. Depending on San Diego's plan, Alonso warrants a mixed flier and a more confident NL-only buy, even in his less helpful environment. Grandal's attractive keeper stock probably won't reach the bigs for at least another season. Boxberger profiles as a future closer and is worth monitoring.

Cincinnati Reds C Yasmani Grandal (finger) is being shut down in the Arizona Fall League due to a sore middle finger on his left hand. He only played three games in the AFL before being injured.

Cincinnati Reds C Yasmani Grandal (finger) hasn't played in the Arizona Fall League due to a finger injury on his left hand. "It's very sore," general manager Walt Jocketty said. "It bothers him when catches and it really bothers him when he hits. He's going to see the doctor tomorrow and we'll decide whether to shut him down or not."

Cincinnati Reds general manager Walt Jocketty indicated that the team is in buying mode as the trade deadline approaches. "Oh yeah, definitely," Jocketty said. "We would like to improve our club since it's easier to do before the 31st. There is some urgency - but not tremendous urgency. I still have a lot of confidence that we're good enough to win, but if there is a chance to upgrade the club, we would try to pursue it." Cincinnati has been linked to Colorado Rockies SP Ubaldo Jimenez and Tampa Bay Rays SP James Shields. They may have to part with Cs Devin Mesoraco and Yasmani Grandal, or OF Yonder Alonso.

The Cincinnati Reds promoted C Yasmani Grandal from Class A Bakersfield to Double-A Carolina over the weekend. He was hitting .296 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs with Bakersfield.
